***The Official 6320/6420 Overclocking Thread***

whats that aux temp mean, it just a tad high, lol.
infact your core temps look a little high for only 1.38v vcore. your not using a stock cooler are you and you might need to put a fan over nb.

PUCK IT !

These vcores reading and temps look off !

The BIOS reads my vcore @ 1.5 whereas I put in 1.6

SO PUCK IT PUCK IT PUCK IT.... I'm going for it.

1.62 VCORE which I recogn is around 1.52 real - strange thing is that temps are only a little higher than before however I have turned the tuniq on full blast.

I'm on orthos 3.6 : 10 mins in.

If you smell fire call 999.

EDIT I ready need to take vcore measurements manually.

is that for 3.6ghz? 1.64 and that should droop down to 1.54v under load. thats same as me, good luck.
you might be able to pencil mod your vcore so you only need to put 1.54v vcore in bios and no droop.

Yeh the vcore push from 3.4 to 3.6 is like 1.3 volts minimum and tbh its just not worth it so I'm quits at 3.4 - there is something called a voltage dampener on this board which I believe is supposed to supress vdrop and yes it doesn't work for me :)

Mind you I believe some gerry has got it working albeit with the delux version of the P5K.

Thanks again boys

What are your load temps like? are you watching the temps around the time Orthos fails?

I'm 3 hours into Orthos @ 3.4 : Tat Core temps are 55 which is ok system temp approaches 48-50.

I've got the fan down to a mere 1200 as I want this overclock to be quiet.

Its bloody baking in this room (box room with 3 core duos). Once this build is stable and finished I'll go back to just using 2 pcs in this room. Having said that summer is round the corner and so it could mean going auto everything for 3.2 guaranteed or doing some water.

That seemed like a very high system temp but then I saw you were using a SUGO!. The CPU load temp is ok but I think to open the 'secret overclocking door' in these Core 2 Duos you really need to keep them cool (isn't that the case for all CPU's!)

Yup understood, but if that clock fails, don't change any setting except put the fan on full to see if it then passes (just for testing purposes).

Heh thats one of the other machines dude. I'm not a 1 rig man. The machine which is going through orthos is sitting on the box it came in.

I have 2 rigs for productivity which act as my workbench and several servers.

well i'm at 3.3GHz with stock volts on a 6420 (8 x 412), memory: 1.9v 4-4-4-12 (GeiL 2gb pc6400 ull)

only orth'd for 30mins as I need sleep, i'll see if she will do a few hours stable tomorrow and post relevant info

Didn't see a results table yet?

How many 3.3's and 3.4's do we need.

In realtiy do we need a table of 1000 people running C2D @ 3ghz?

I'll gladly do a C2D with clocks that are above 3.4ghz as it would be interesting comparing vcores etc and cooling.

But 3.2ghz is a gimme on air with ok hardware and very easy to achieve.Even for a novice that uses the search function.

Cmon be a friendly chap and help the nOObies by sifting through this thread and creating a top ten, give preference to those people who made an effort to post an Orthos Stable screenie. I'm sure a lot of people would really appreciate your efforts! :D

In the future please don't bother making an *** Official thread*** unless you bought the hardware, yes its a good idea to help keep the forums tidy but just let another keen overclocker have a go for a change ;)

So your problem is with my *** Official threads*** ?

Wayne I suggest you get a life mate. :p

How can there be a top ten?
when a couple try for 3.6ghz and the rest settle for 3.2 or 3.4ghz?

Thats the problem here...there is to much talk of overclocking and little proof going on.

Scoobie Dave and a few others do it but even then no one is maxing them out.

I have yet to see a 6420 @ 3.8ghz orthos stable but i'll put my faith in scoobie dave at least he will have a go.

It would be nice to see someone else have a chance to create an ***Official*** thread, ya know like someone who actually owned the hardware hint hint ;)

Well thats what your doing isn't it?

There has been 238 posts in this thread and you haven't submitted any results?

Easyriders ***Official 6320/6420*** thread, but wait he hasn't even got one :o

Something is just not quite right with my setup.

3.4ghz 7 hrs Orthos stable but sky high temps.... I'm going to stock to check temps, might swap out the crappy tuniq/(reseat it ?) or get my NINJAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh out.
