***The Official 6320/6420 Overclocking Thread***

Doh! Crashed after 1hr :(

It was running @ 44oc with 1.4v shoved through it.

I have noticed nForce SPP and nForce MCP and HT nforce SPP <-> MCP

What should I have these set at? Default??

Core temp was showing your cpu as a 6500 and temps way off tat.

Speedfan was showing the same?

failed clock at 3.7ghz

Oh well back to the drawing board.

what cooling you using?
Those temps seem very low...

TBH I am not bothered about hitting 3.7ghz stable anymore.

Something has crapped out on me and im pretty sure its not the cpu.........

I have 8hr Orthos for 3.4ghz though.

Let me see if I can find it.... :o

Its 3.6ghz I'm interested in TBH.
If it failed orthos on small FFT its the chip. And your settings...

3.4ghz is relatively easy to achieve...Its the last few 100 mhz and the vcore needed for these clocks I'm interested in.

I'm under water and phase so am interested in how they scale..

See thats my problem :o I dont have a CLUE about the settings.#

Hell its even picking up my SATAII barracuda as an IDE 133 :o

All my settings are messed up.

Any help would be much appreciated. :D

OH ****!

OMG! I saw that I left my jumper pin on Bios reset :o Oh crap lol :p

That cant be good :o

And I am experiencing a Vcore drop :(

1.4 = 1.34 :(

Is it my psu? 680w thermaltake purepower.

Right - those are pretty scary clocks snazzy_dazzy. I don't think it especially matters if it's stable at 3.7GHz for the moment - the fact is that it got there and it was possible to work inside windows while doing it, even if Orthos wasn't stable.

The 1300MHz on that PC5300 Ballistix is incredible. I'm pretty sure it's a record of some description.

The Vdroop is completely normal it just means you need to run with a higher base voltage to combat the droop. It will increase your idle temperature, but not your maximum load temperature.

Don't give up yet as it seems to have a good chip and RAM and that's a great overclocking motherboard.

I am certain this chip WILL be stable with tweaking @ 3.7ghz (it was for an hour).

However there are loads of things wrong with all the settings (I dont know what). They are all over the place. I mean wtf is HT multiplier  Got all the frequencys to change etc.

I am convinced the ram will go higher. 1300mhz @ stock voltage with 5-5-5-18 being the timings.

What timings should I type in now?

P.s 3.7Ghz is not my highest. I got it to 3.9Ghz where it failed when I loaded up Orthos :( That was on 1.56v though

I would probably leave the memory alone for the moment and just 'isolate' the CPU overclock, see how far you can push it stably, your just gonna get yourself in a twist if your trying to overclock the chip, memory and motherboard all at the same time.

Once you have worked out the max MHz you can get from the e6420 you can then shift your attention to tighting the memory.

I'm waiting to see one of these chips running stable at 3.6GHz with low'ish vCore.

Glad to see you calmed down a bit :)

I really want my motherboard to be replaced so I can put some AS5 on Northbridge. However eVGA isnt picking up my credit card and I refuse to do anything but cross ship.

'tis very annoying.

Am going to reflash Bios tonight and start from scratch after I have lapped my Zalman. (The pc was knocked from the desk last night by my little sister  :o . Nearly flattened her  .Thankfully she is alright.

However the pc dosent look to happy.......

It has ripped the CPU Cooler out. Hopefully it will still work

What do you mean? why don't you just put some AS5 on it anyway?

Is your northbridge heatsink getting warm/hot/scalding at the moment?

When u get a chance to post your next screenie, can you do one please with TAT where you have pressed both the 'workload' start buttons, that will heat up your chip to the max, even hotter than Orthos. I wanna see what the max-max temps are on these new chips when overclocked,

thanks in advance.

No problem dude :D At what speed?
:o

p.s I dont want to put as5 on atm because my RMA might fail.
I don't understand what you mean? Are you saying that you will void your warranty if you mod it?
