****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

I'll be trying this very combination in a few days. I'll let the GPU temps be my guide. I suppose it's best to keep temps below 70C or so (although I'd prefer to keep them beow 60).

90nm process with 1.7v? No way! Think of an A64. I doubt many would put more than 1.55-1.6v on air cooling or 1.65 for water. 1.7v is phase range.

Maybe I worded that badly, I meant voltage can kill a GPU/CPU even if its kept uber cool.

And I was agreeing with you, maybe I worded it badly.

I'm sure it is irrelevant... Haven't had the guts to do any volt modding on mine yet. :)

Just done a pencil mod on my 7900GT to increase my Mem voltage. This mod was so easy, all i had to do was shade in a bit on my card :D which gave me an extra 160mhz on the memory.

Instructions here

So my memory is now clocked at 1960 mhz , artifact free so far.

I would reccommend anyone with a 7900gt tries this mod, all you need is a HB pencil! Some decent cooling might help aswell. Mod at your own risk :p

Im going by the fact that others have successfully done the same mod :o

If it breaks, it breaks. I have read a lot into it though beforehand, and breakage seems very unlikely.
