Thanks man....what kind of temps are you getting with your zalmans?.

On the modded one I'm getting up to 60. On the unmodded one not even 40. Idle 39 and 33 respectively.

kbc, i'll tell you what I did that really worked. Don't aim for 1800 on the memory, 1700 will be fine. That'll probably ease things up on the core. I have no idea of the logic behind it, but I do know that the core and memory see-saw a lot with this card. I was running at something like 660/1750, but was a bit worried about the memory so I backed in down to 1650. Gave the core another play with and found that it was now stable at 680. Which was stabler and just as quick.

EDIT: Sorry didn't answer your question. There probably is a stable spot where you can have 650 on the core without having to do the last mod. Try gtx settings 650/1600, if that works tweak the memory up bit by bit.

voltage mod ink

ONCE I GET A 7900GT I MAY VOLT IT. Some questions

does anyone know where to get some conductive ink?

or are there many places in the UK to buy this ink?

round about how much did the ink cost?

thanks :)

I bought a special conductive ink pen from ****** that did the job. It was £20 though and I might as well just have just used a paint pot and brush, it was useless at drawing lines.

I understand halfords does something a bit less fancy for a lot less.

Having said that I'd probably try using a pencil first; graphite has been reported to do the trick as well. Though i've no first hand experiance.

the volt mod for the core is easy. the way I did it was to get some "Electrically Conductive Silver Paint" (-google it), and apply it with a matchstick that I sharpened with a snanley knife. cost £7.20 in total. :)

That would mean underclocking my memory... heh... as its stock is 1650MHz. But I'll try put the memory back to stock and see if I can hit 650MHz core @ 1.5v.

Hmm. Well, see how it goes and let us know. As you're at 1.5 already though, I think you should strongly consider the last 0.05v mod. Seems to be a bigger difference between 1.5 and 1.55, than 1.4 and 1.5.

Would that stack a few more degrees on my card? My room is pretty warm and it idles at about 44-45C, so on load - it'll probably be a lot more.

To be honest, I went straight from 1.4 to 1.55 so I don't know what the extra 0.05 will equate to in terms of heat. I went up about 7 or 8 C though from 1.4 to 1.55 under load and about 2-3 idle.

ever since doing the volt mod im getting random lock ups where the screen goes black then bsod's, making a screeching noise from the speakers for 1sec. Im sure its volt mod related but it might be memory related?? anyone else heard of this happening?

That's shocking news. Not happening on mine, try removing the volt mod and see if it goes back to normal?

Is anyone using the laterst beta's?

Yes i am...and they are fine....but did a clean install for them.

Hey man_from_uncle...i am under 200 points away from 10k and that's with only 1.4v. :D

Thought I'd drop by this thread since I have a 7900gt now.
Clocking is good so far (570:780) - thats without the voltmod.

I need help with the drivers though, at stock I am only getting around 7800 points. I'm under the impression my system should do much better than that (cpu is stock too with that score)

When I bump the cpu up to 2.7 and the gfx to 570:780 from stock my score is around 9800.

Seems a bit low to me :s
any ideas? (my first NVidia card so don't know my way around the drivers and all the tweaks can do)

edit: (currently reading this thread and maybe those sores arent so bad)

seems about right maybe a little off. Check background programs, and the cpu speed. over 2.8ghz for 10,000 i reckon with your setup.

Ok, looking at te sores that SMids got with a similar system on the first page reinsures me.
