** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Not suprising Ulf sold his GTX, he paid £300 for it month or so ago?

Luckily I got mine a few months ago at a punt of £250 so Im not in any hurry to try and claw some cash back, the GTX is fine for my needs. Now just waiting for these 9800's.

Good card all the same, have you recieved it yet Ulf, look forward to some more GT oc's

Sell the GTX, get a GT and put some money towards a quad core :). You seem to like your benching so why not?.

Aye I paid £300 on the dot for it in September, looking forward to getting £100 back. :)

Not sold it yet though, waiting for GT to arrive tomorrow or something so that I can play with both thoroughly and decide which I like best. Can't see me prefering the GTX whatsoever though for my resolution etc. especially with the GT overclocking so well and being single slot.

Well you'll certainly not get £300 back for it but you should be able to get at least £250 though I have seen a lot going for lower. Which GT have you bought and how much was it?

Because I CBA in all honesty.

I like my GTX game performance is superb clocked at Ultra. If I felt the need to boost my 3DMark E-Penis I would have sold already :p

COD4 Benchmark

I've just ran COD4 demo, almost to the end and ran fraps benchmarking in the background. I have resolution set at native 1280x1024, all settings on high (not altered AA or anything like that though)
Averaged over 100FPS, here's the benchmark text file results:

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
44858, 440321, 2, 518, 101.876

Whats everyone else getting?

I'm just downloading Crysis demo (again) and will do the same on that at medium settings (and I'll try and access the higher settings through the XP tweak too).

Looks ok, but 2fps minimum? guess thats loading, at 1680x1050 a lot of time its above 60 solid, but then I get into some areas and it goes down to like 45, feels laggy for some weird reason too, but I dont see why it gets down to 45fps it just should not happen, graphics aint that good.

I did use 4xAA tho.

Yeah that was whilst it was loading, bit like the highest frame being over 500FPS; only happens for split second, certainly no lagging in the game and I'm more focused on a good average throuhout the game. My next test will be Crysis (75% downloaded) and Bioshock tomorrow - that will be good as I can compare it to how my GTS ran on Vista.

Wasn't expecting £300 back, not a chance, but offers so far have ranged from £250 to £275 so I can't wait to see what happens when it goes on MM or the Bay. :)

I bought the OcUK 512MB GT. I was going to get the EVGA one but I figure the OcUK 1 year warranty is more than enough and I'd rather have them sort any RMA instead of EVGA direct (as good as they are.)

:D I know the feeling. I could sell this card and get the GT no problem. Pics are taken and ready to go to the bay but in all honesty I cba either :). Although I'm not as happy in gaming performances as you, it can still play my games well and even 1600x1200 in World in conflict with 2xAA and everything else maxed out I'm getting great FPS (60+ in most except Seattle) which I thinks not too shabby for my 939 rig. Saying that, if I can get a potential mug (buyer) then I might get the GT soon. Motivation is the key to better gaming for me, damn :(.

I'm using my m8's BFG 8800GTX OC the now (testing) and yeah the card is great. I've been playing that Timeshift and oooooh it looks and plays so nice (Crysis? who?). I suppose I should try Crysis with the 8800GTX as I didn't enjoy playing with the 2900 all on high @ 1280x1024 :(.

If I go back to my 2900Pro and my gaming changes too dramatically then that could be the thing that gets me motivated to get the GT as I've been well impressed with them so far.

Its not about that TBH.

The reason why there are so manny GTX's on MM is that people want to get rid of the cards before they take even more of a financial hit.

With new GTS coming that will be more than likely faster this is a smart move.

Aye I'm with easy on this. I'm not getting a GT to improve my 3D mark score, I am doing it purely because I'd like an extra £100. Not often I can just basically click my fingers and £100 appears. :D

I'm fully expecting to lose some performance, especially with AA, but I can't say 10fps is worth £100 to me.

You do know what cba stands for?. :D. A GT whoops my card and even I can't be bothered so I understand a GTX owner not wanting to do it or being bothered about it. I've pleaded with my m8 to get rid of both his GTX's and just pick up GT's and save a few quid but he just said "why would I want to downgrade?, it's been the longest time I've had a top end card for and I'm speechless already that my card is this good 12 months on". It's a fair point and he games at 1920x1440 with as much eye candy as possible so the GT's would just annoy him with the lack of performance that he gets from his current cards. He paid £400 or maybe a little more on November 2006.

Of course it is, if im happy with my current card im not going to play the mindless sheep and follow the herd and sell up for no reason. I won't take as a big financial hit as some because as always Easy you are missing the fact I got my GTX brand new for £250 2 month's ago.

GTS I couldn't give a rat's ass about.

It's all about waiting for Penryn and 9800GTX or whatever it is for me now :)

Crysis Demo @ 1280x1024, 0AA, all settings on high: (results from fraps)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
33058, 522287, 0,2687, 63.295

Crysis Demo @ 1280x1024, x4AA, all settings on high:
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
17966, 325559, 0, 482, 55.185

I now have the SLI indicator enabled and it seems to be using the SLI system. Off to work soon so do some more testing tomorrow, tweak XP to get access to Very High Settings and try x8AA too.
