** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Been following this thread at xtreme.

Seems for some people its working, giving them more voltage to oc with, for some its having no effect. I think some of the vendors set 1.05v for 3d mode and some set 1.1v. So in theory this should only work on 1.05v cards, could work on 1.1v cards if vid table is changed. I`m happy with a slight voltage increase, temp does not exced 62c with standard cooler and fan hardly ever goes upto 50%.

Hello there,

just thought I'd suggest anyone trying to confirm if their overclocks and nice and solid should give this app a spin. . .

You can set it to run for any amount of time and it will push your card very hard. If your overclock is borderline then the OpenGL Fur Rendering Benchmark will quickly show errors or fall over.

just installed my 8800gt got 3DMark score of 13666 on stock speeds with my Q6600 3.6Ghz will stick my waterblock on later today :)

Are we the only ones with this problem or is it quite common?
Mine makes the funny noises in the crysis intro movies and when running ATI tools. Don't worry about it - I've had several cards that made similar noises over the years and none of them have failed.

I'm gonna be brave and attempt to overclock my 8800gt. Does anyone have a link to a tutorial for doing so using Rivatuner?

Sussed the overclocking with rivatuner and have finally managed to get over 10000 points on 3dmark06, 10040 to be precise. I'm well happy with that, my previous best was apprx 9750.

I have BFG OC version and my overclock settings now read:
Core clock rop= 675mhz
core clock shader = 1674mhz
Memory clock = 945mhz

Card idles at 50dc with fan set to 60%.

C2d e6400 clocked to 2.4ghz and rubbish 2gig Hyundai ram clocked to 600mhz.

I know that there are lots oftter scores but given i'm pretty much a noob to all this i'm well pleased to get over 10000 points.

Is there another tool apart from Rivatuner that I can use to setup fanspeeds? I had a 2 second powerout here and when I started the pc back up fans are back at 29% and all my fan speed profiles are wiped out despite them still being in the launcher list  meaning a tedious chore to remove the old entries and set them all up again with Rivatuner.

Just need to reset the fan speed settings like 60% 70% 80% i think if the profiles are still there.Don't need to remove anything + once you done it a few times you get faster at doing it takes a few mins if that.

Yes it was odd, after the powercut only<Custom fan profile> was showing on the settings page but on the launcher page my 60% 80% 100% profiles were still listed but right clicking them to edit brought up an error box telling me there was no such profile.
All sorted now but could get annoying if it happens regularly. I'd just clicked on the Crysis icon to start the game when I noticed the temp was already in the fifties on the taskbar. Normally idles around 43 with 60% fan profile.

:o

Does anybody know why my 8800gt wont go back to 725/1775/2000 when i want to benchmark ?

Ive used it before for when i 1st got the card yesterday but now 3dmark06 just locks up on the 1st test :(

Currently got it @ 680/1750/1980 for general use and games and its fine.

just got 14,878 in 3dmark06. Using an S1 cooler with a 120mm yate loon. load temps are 45C !!. thats with the card at 756/1836/2072

I'm sure there's a little more wiggle room but going to leave it at that for now...

well been playing with my MSI card, stock is 660 / 1900 / 1650

i ran 3dmark06 last night with just core @ 700 rest stock, and got 11122, however................ and this is odd, at 756 / 2000 / 1750 my 3dmark score lost 200 points? using riva 2.06 to oc

Not all that bothered about 3d mark scores, but just seems odd the more i clock the more i loose..

one good note, at 756 / 2000 / 1750 my temps with the S1 and 2 120mm fans havent gone above 42c!! that was playing crysis demo, 3dmark hits 40-41c uuuubbeerrrrr cool.

Will get screenies later.

Nothing else gets close.
Ain't that the truth, although the mini furry box in ATI-Tool heats the card up quite a bit also (something to do with rendering Fur I guess?).

3DMark06 doesn't push the card temp wise as it's a sequence and the card starts cooling down again between every test.

On a side note I am still trying to find a way to enable shader overclocking using RivaTuner under WinXP?

ok, i tidied my case up, moved a fan and a load of unused power leads, and have got idle temps down to 33c with 756 core / shaders stock @ 1650 / ram 1998

had a play on the crysis demo for 5 mins and took this screenie....

capture_21112007_203413.jpg

load temp of oooh 36! gotta love the S1 and the 120mm fans! :D

Need to roll back to 169.02 as .04 & .09 will not run 3Dmark06 at any clock....

Also, the more i clock the lower my 3dmark06 score becomes, with say 100 - 200 less points each time i try... bizzare.
