** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

A day of overclocking!

Aaaah what fun! Decided to give my new XpertVision 8800 GT an overclock and here is what I did! On Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, 4 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 RAM, Core 2 Duo E6600 overclocked from 2.4 GHz to 3.6 GHz, Asus Commando Motherboard, Hiper Type R 580W, 150GB WD Raptor

GPU: 600 MHz (STOCK STANDARD BIOS)
SHADER: 1500 MHz
RAM: 900 MHz
3D MARK: 11407

GPU: 700 MHz (MAX OC STANDARD BIOS)
SHADER: 1750 MHz
RAM: 900 MHz
3D MARK: 12293

GPU: 750 MHz (MAX OC ON NEW 1.1V BIOS)
SHADER: 1800 MHz
RAM: 1000 MHz
3D MARK: 13049

I must say I am so impressed with this card I had a 1900XTX before and was getting 6000 on 3D Mark. I will be watercooling the card tommorow to see what I can push it to! :D

What was your max overclock with the stock and OC bios then with the 1.1V bios?

Also whats the spec of the rest of your rig.

Got my Bfg oc gt yesterday looks like a stinker the shader wont go over 1751, 1758 gives yellow dots on ati tool thing is it passes 0zone3d and 3d mark though so no idea what's happening there i can put the clock at 750 but must keep the shader at 1751 or less and it passes everything.

Just finished doing a bit of tweaking to my new system. E2180 running @ 2.8ghz at stock voltage. Running nice and cool also. Upped the GT to 650 core and 950(1900) memory without any problems whatsoever. In fact, it was too easy (I have never had the patience for 1mhz increments:D). A lot of the GT`s seem to do this easy so it seemed low risk, i think ;) Makes the 625 cards a bit of a rip off IMO.

But so far so good.

Load temps occasionally creep over 80. Idle at 52. Fan at 30%. I am sure the P182 is helping me out quite a lot.

Anyway, main point of this post,

3D Mark06

11037

Crysis. 1200x1024, all settings high, No AA/AF

Min Fps 21.63
Max Fps 48.17

Average Fps 39.93 :)

That will do me nicely. :D

Spec as sig. XPsp2

Thats great results :) What did you use to oc the card mate? I have one arriving this tuesday to replace my x1800xt, never oc a graphics card before. Also what are the best XP drivers to install?

Cheers.

Drivers are 169.02. Whether they are the best is always a matter of opinion. They work well for me though.

I downloaded nTune to OC the card. Other tools are available.

:)

Ditto. My BFG OC won;t got past 1751 on shader either but core will go to 750.

My memory bombs at 1950+ too. How's yours?

I think BFG may have supplied the worse overclocking cards

I only bought it cause it was in stock :(

There's a 1.1v bios..?
How do I get it? Will it work on my card? What does it change to 1.1v?

Avoid the Bfg's shaders wont budge past 1751 seems bfg aren't cherry picking at all 1751 is probably the worst board.
Lost my faith in Bfg now.Don't get how 1758 shader gives yellow dots on ati tool yet passes 0zone3d ?
considering you can get an asus card with a game + guaranteed to hit 1844MHz shader for a lot cheaper is taking the michael thank god for the DSR.
Never buying Bfg ever again

There's a cheaper card called the Asus extreme guaranteed to hit 1844 shader clock and it comes with opposing fronts meh.
BFG seem to be taking the worst clockers and using them for their OC models then which is just not cricket tbh.

I've seen the Asus EN8800GT TOP with a special HSF, but that's 700/1750/2000. The core to shader ratio is 1:2.5, 1844 would have a core at 737. Sure thats not a typo?
