** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

This is the Asus extreme spec and it's cheaper than most cards and comes with a game.

Amazing 10% Performance Upgrade
With the EN8800GT TOP, gamers can expect stream processor clock performance boosts from 1500MHz up to an incredible 1844MHz. Such never-before-seen performance upgrade helps raise the EN8800 GT TOP’s 3DMark06 score from 10112 to 11119 – an astonishing 10% improvement in speed to any other reference designed board*. Gamers can now feel the adrenaline rush of unprecedented gaming performance only with the ASUS EN8800GT TOP/G/HTDP/512M.

Not happy at all that my BFG can't go past 1751 shader clock i will consider what to do i just know that it will probably resale better than other cards with the swanky OC in it's name and lifetime warranty though so i may yet keep it until the new gts comes.
But £187 from here and it's an OC and it's the worst card out there leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
But after all this card is just here to fill a gap between the gts/gtx price crash and a truly decent card this is no different than merly dropping the gtx cost to £150-£200.Cannot wait until true next gen card comes that can max crysis my guess is the new GTS will only be 10 fps better than this.

Aint the worst card out there, before a Bios mod my GT could not get past 1750 Shaders aswell and mine is a gainward.

No but you expect an OC model to be a bit better than a bog standard card seems pot luck then.
Considering the voltage mod may bung in my floppy later just need to find info on how to create a saviour floppy if it goes wrong.

I'm pretty that's a typo. If you look you can find the same sales pitch with 1750MHz. The core clock would very high for that shader.

What on earth are they doing putting 1844 in the spec then surely that's illegal mis selling.Ta for heads up.

Avoid the Bfg's shaders wont budge past 1751 seems bfg aren't cherry picking at all 1751 is probably the worst board.
Lost my faith in Bfg now.Don't get how 1758 shader gives yellow dots on ati tool yet passes 0zone3d ?
considering you can get an asus card with a game + guaranteed to hit 1844MHz shader for a lot cheaper is taking the michael thank god for the DSR.
Never buying Bfg ever again

My BFG OC version in ati tool clocked at 740/1800/950 shows no yellow dots at all, although I did get a "display driver stopped responding" error after a while. Seems that once I hit 79-80 degrees I get the error.
Mine was from the first batch that OcUk had.

Just flashed it to 1.1 volts hasn't made any difference still get yellow dots at 1758 shader clock even if i leave core at 600mhz and memory at 900 no idea which is the true value though 699=702mhz in rivatuner monitor and shader @ 1751=1728 clock in monitor. ah well look forward to the new gts.If anyones interested put your original bios on the same floppy as your modified one this way you can recover should anything go wrong.
THis card will not budge an inch above 1728 shader clock will be interested to hear other peoples experience with the BFG oc card.

I used my default bios just changed the volts i did try the zotac bios but got a pci error in nvflash.Think i will wait to see which is the best bios to use on the bfg.

On another forum a lot of people are having great success with the EVGA SCC bios and no volt increase. If you increase the voltage to 1.1v on the EVGA bios your max overclock goes down.

Only problem is that unless your card can do 700/2000 to start with then you are running the risk of borking your card.

My core clock goes high it's just the shader which isnt stable over 1728 in rivatuner i can do 750/1728 /2000 but it's the shader i thought is where you get the most boost.
If i disable rivatuner and use ati tool and set 750/1000 clocks i get no artifacts if i do same clocks in rivatuner i do get artifacts so at this stage i am confused.
Unless ati tool doesn't raise the shader when you up the core am scratching my head.

SCC has a core of 700 right? Mine cant do 700 unless I have a modded bios, you think it'll do 700 with the SCC bios?

The recent GT's dont seem to clock so well, i'm sure i read the initial batch of cards were put together by a different company than the mass produced ones would be, I cant find the link tho

I don't think so, all the cards out now are Foxconns, when the Flextronic cards are ready the 8800GT should/will be in stock everywhere.

I think you just got lucky! :)

Not sure, all the early cards seemed good clockers now all I read is about results with new cards, even OC cards struggling to hit 1800 shaders.

Tbh who cares ? am over it already really this card is not good enough for keeping, it's noisy hot and can only get 30fps in crysis on high.I would imagine for a lot of people they bought this just to avoid the gtx/gts price drop on a resale i will be selling this card on soon as the new gts arrives.

you have a bad clocker, other 8800GT's are really good and cool. The new GTS wont make any difference to crysis FPS.
