***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

ok so if it supports windows XP wonder if it supports USB CD/DVD drives so u can install XP fresh ?? from a clean boot , cause these things don`t have a built in drive do they ??

links for XP drivers anyone, for it ??

Hi there

Yes we ordered these with Asus a few weeks ago, were now just waiting for them to get the products into the UK and then into us.

What we shall do tomorrow is get the products on the website so you can order them.

Unfortunately the UK prices is higher than the US pricing, which is upsetting but not surprising.

Any idea on the pricing Gibbo?

Very interested :).

install windows off of a USB stick.

There are drivers for everything except the webcam - which they've said they're working on

I notice the education site doesnt stock the 1GB Ram version. But then does this unit need a GB of mem? These things look great though! They have all the features Id want from a device.

On zdnet Rupert Goodwin installed ubuntu on one running 512mb RAM and said it ran fine - I've got a feeling that it'd probably be better value for money to buy it with the 512 and then upgrade it yourself anyway.

woot £219 isn't bad at all...

Aslong as I can expand the storage space easily so I can get XP on there sensibly all will be good.

I think 7" is good for that laptop.

Yeah it could be bigger, but it'd add weight too.

Think thats definitely on my list for a next gadget.

can u play znes on it ?

does znes work on windows? if so then yes. Already says further up that windows can be installed and all drivers are currently avail except for webcam, so im guessing that means you can install quite a lot of nifty things :)
Thought windows is bound to drain battery life as im sure its a bit more CPU intensive than the stock setup.
