***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

Are they 900mhz?
yes and no. They're 900mhz cpus underclocked to 677mhz. In the latest bios (somehow they're already on the second bios?) you can adjust it back up to 900mhz (set the fsb to 100mhz), but you lose a little battery and, at the moment, it's not completely stable at 900mhz, but it works fine other than that. Hopefully with another BIOS update it'll be properly stable.

znes via linux will be ok then? also how much of the 4Gb will the os take up? or is the 4gb useable space?

taken from review below !

Looking at the disk utility shows the usage on the solid-state drive is more than half full. The 4GB drive has about 1500MB of free data but because of the way the operating system works and how new applications can be added, this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Hi there

These things are going to be like Nintendo Wii's this side of Christmas so if you want one then be quick to get on on order as these are no doubt going to be a huge hit, especially around this time of year. :)

Cheers for the heads up.

ETA says 12/11, around when would we receive if we order before hand?

Anyone know whats the likelyhood of changing the SSD to a bigger one?

Or will i need to basically have a SD Card always in there for some more space?

Tempted to get one to take to school and load windows :p. Gets annoying lugging around the normal laptop.

ordered ! , well **IF** i don't like it I'm sure they will make a tidy profit somewhere online if they do become 2007's wii :)

will i be able to connect to my pc via this to stream music etc?

Same here.

Just general use i recon.

MSN, Word etc.

Would be perfect to carry around, great price.

Can always get a few SD's or a USB Drive for more space.

i own a Macbook pro, and i basically use that for audio work, so would be nice while on the move to have both, but i can get the smaller one out since the MBP is 17" and people wouldnt be attracted by its lushness.

Yeah.

Still wondering about the 1.5GB free space though.

Still not 100% Clear on Order, are BOTH Black and White in stock and ready to be dispatched on the ETA?

4GB? I remember my first pc had a whopping 170 Mb hard drive! you young'uns! :P
I pre-ordered the white, its small enough to be a replacement for my PDA and has a keyboard - no more taptap tapping with a stylus! woohoo!

It will be more than fine for browsing the net, remember most sites are designed to be comfortably viewed @ 800x600, open http://news.bbc.co.uk/ and look how wide the web page is, I've owned a Toshiba libretto before with only a 2gig hdd and 800x600 screen and I used that as my only computer for nearly 6 months and was fine for surfing the net, sending emails and basic admin work.
