***The Official ATI Radeon HD 5850 / 5870 Reviews and Discussion Thread***

Great card just a shame about the noise.

Seriously, there hasn't been an Nvidia/AMD card in the past 3-4 years I haven't whipped off the shround within a day, ziptied a silent 120mm fan onto and gotten better cooling, better overclocking and silent.

The guy who decided external exhausting had to be done, to save the cpu heating up an extra 2C, needs to be shot.

Impressive results from the 5870 but then it is £300. Anyone found a credible review with 5850 results yet?

Think I'll wait for Nvidias answer in the new year.

I prefer the look of the VTX but I have never heard of the company. Which is a shame as when spending £300 I like good manufacter support..

I was wondering the same the other day when a buddy pointed out that it was owned by TUL Corporation, who also own Powercolor.

news coming in from america.

hd5870 buring out after 1 hours gaming !!

someone please ban this fool

VTX are listed as powercolor on the page that lists all the cards, however Powercolor, for the same price has a 2 year warranty, VTX only has a 1 year warranty, I assume they are supposed to be a little cheaper for less good service and less good warranty.

I here you and I have done it myself but should we have to... No. Running a GTX 260 at the moment and this card is pretty much silent under load. While I appreciate it's a high end card I just wish they would spend some of the R&D money on cooling.

5850 certainly faster than a 4890 here:
