*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

God this game is dying, played a few games tonight (crossplay enabled) and some of them have 20-30 bots on, it's Thursday night, prime time... it's Embarassing... The big games like League, Dota, CS:GO have hundreds of thousands of players in game at this hour in EU alone, and a 2 month old Battlefield game is running out of players, it's.... alarming!

The success of such games made Dice / EA think they needed to change the BF formula to compete and we have ended up with this mess of a game.

Thousand million percent.

The thing that winds me up the most, is all they had to do was not **** up, a perfectly good recipe... It reminds me of those Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares episodes, where you have a chef that isn't tasting his own food, doing weird takes on classics, is out of touch with their customers, they're saying they're doing great, but only 2 people are sat in their restaurant on a Saturday night, EA are behaving the same way with this game.

Literally all they had to do was take BF3, update the engine, do new maps and it would have been a hit lol.

Going back to BFV highlights the massive drop in graphics. I know BFV had it’s own controversy, which thankfully I missed as I didn’t end up playing it until early 2020, but it’s a solid game now. I’d genuinely swap 2042 for more BFV DLC at this point.

I see that everywhere these days especially but not limited to the gaming industry.

Just shows how out of touch they are with the playerbase :/

Problem is their reading of it will be "no one is interested in a BF game these days" rather than they didn't make a BF game for the people interested in a BF game these days :s and possibly put the whole franchise on the back burner.

The freezing and CTDs have got me running a memtest as one of the crash dump files reported it as a memory issue. I'm convinced it's just the game but we'll see.

Edit: 7 cycles deep on TestMem5 - Extreme1 anta777 configuration with no errors, so yeah, it's more likely the game is just a heap of **** atm.

I doubt it's your ram, I've been getting crashes with it too - with brand new memory. Sometimes it just locks up and the whole PC dies, sometimes I get a DirectX error where the graphics card has apparently been removed :D

(I play loads of other games, and my system is not overclocked and 100% stable in all of them, except 2042.)

BFV is still epic as is BF1. Anything before that doesn't look great @ 4k.

I started playing BFV about 6-7 months ago, myself and all my friends love it - it's a million times better than 2042. I guess this is because we came in at the very end of 1-2 years worth of tweaking, bugfixes and balance, we just missed out on the launch carnage..

I really like the points system in BF5, where you can order in air strikes, supplies and stuff - why the **** **** ****** $%^*$)%^ are all those things missing from 2042??? It's just... mental. It was the perfect idea to build on, there are so many cool things you could do with that..

I guess in answering my own question, a lot of it is down to this "Game as a service" idea, which is just corporate speak for "We can release any half finished crap at any time we like to make some cash, and promise to make it better when we like"

Isn't that what Portal is supposed to be for?

portal from my very limited game time has the same performance issues and bugs

and despite people going on about updating bf3 my time on casbian border is well and truely done it was fun for 20 minutes then mehh done that

BFV was excellent in its own way played it nearly from day one and while it had issues we had a positive group of like minded people playing

now with legacy features like scoreboard and cross team chat we would get constant abuse for being a clan full of cheating scumbags but hey when you fill the top 8 slots on most games its to be expected

30-2 is not 30-2 its 30-90 you just get ressed a lot

The video where someone was admiring the sunset and suddenly realised the sun was dead south was funny - too much swearing to link to though.

Though not something unique to BF/Dice and actually an error I've made before in level design heh.
