*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

The joke is its not even anything new, it's the same thing Sundance wears just rotated a bit :D

Tbh it's merely a mission ti get xp in the game presumably and a different head gear for the character, regardless if whether someone else has it

I agree in the CK text that they should be doing other things...but then who knows these could have been created / scheduled ages ago

BF 5 is 10x the game 2042 is,

With 2042, when you aim and shoot at someone it feels like there's some sort of lottery going on inside the game to decide whether your shots are going to hit or not, it feels so crap and disconnected. At least BF 5 feels a lot snappier and more responsive.
It's funny as a lot of people thought BF5 was the low for the franchise, I enjoyed it enough myself, but 2042 has reached depths no one could have predicated (unless they didn't play the beta :p)

Yeah, I put about 2500 hours into BF3 and stopped playing the whole franchise in about 2014. I gave BF5 a go last year - turns out I started playing it after most of the issues had been sorted, and I thought it was great. It has plenty of content, I like the maps, it sounds good and I like the way in which a squad leader can accrue points, which you can spend on cool stuff (artillery, V2 rocket, etc)

2042.... I mean, it just feels empty. A friend pointed out how the maps feel more like gigascans that have been imported from google earth or something, compared to the highly detailed hand crafted maps of previous games. If you go into BFV and look around - those maps have a lot of detail and have a quality feel to them, the maps in 2042 - it just feels like most of it has been scanned in or something, there's something "missing"...

This thread still just idiots moaning...

Be realistic, what is there to be positive about? Holding onto the hope that dice might "fix" the game months down the line? A company that historically releases updates that break more than they fix. Meanwhile the playerbase is leaving the game like rats off a sinking ship.

To actually make this a battlefield game there's a massive list of things they would need to put back into the game, the list of things removed is no mean feat, and to put all this back into the game.. it's likely going to take a tonne of development time, and then a load more bug testing time as putting that much back into a game is going to cause a lot of issues they'll need to iron out

They might reimplement a few features but it'll still pale in comparison to the combat in bfv, then they might want to actually make the maps look like game maps, not random sterile environments that are incredibly dull and have almost zero effort put into them besides making infantry run for miles.

Realistically this games dead in the water, there's too much missing to put back in, ea\dice can promise all they want but internally they're already shifting onto the next game having written this off as a big pile of diarrhoea.

The trolls is this thread should be at least suspended for vulgar/hateful language. If the game is so bad why play it? (I don't) There are a million other online fps's

It has gone on long enough and it is idiotic so I am entitled to complain.

Why defend and be apologetic on behalf of incompetent game devs? If they release a garbage, literally unfinished, buggy game, they absolutely should be held accountable and hung out to dry. Do you enjoy companies releasing things not fit for purpose? If you bought a car from a company which has hazardous design flaws which are absolutely fundamental and basic like missing seatbelts, or a supermarket who constantly kept rotten foods on its shelves everywhere, would you keep shtum about them and just let them go about their day?

If they didn't want to get so much bad press, they shouldn't have tried to take their customers for absolute mugs and release something in such a sorry state.

Thanks, that’s useful to know. I’m going to try the following:
1) a much older Radeon driver
2) The 6600XT card from my sons PC (ironically his game works - ROG Strix MB, Ryzen 7 5800X, RX 6600 XT, Win11)!!!!!
3) then I’ll give windows 10 a try. (Now I know I can simply move the existing BF2042 install files to another drive it will avoid the wait to download again and the download will simply validate the files I have).

I also tried renaming the dxgi.dll file from the syswow64 folder but then the loading made less progress and then just closed before the point the crash would normally appear.

I tried the 6600 XT card and the game ran perfectly. Thinking the 6600 XT draws less power than a 6800 XT I tried a better PSU in case my PSU wasn't delivering enough peak power, that didn't work and the game still crashed with the 6800XT and the better PSU. I then tried a 6900 XT and the game ran perfectly so I'm now of the opinion the 6800 XT is at fault and it is being RMA'd.
