*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

Its always about the people.
Having fun with some friends is hard to beat with BF.
Me and a buddy in BC2 was basically killing the other team and winning matches as the rest just stood in a spot and shot back and forth.
Buddy didn't know you could press a a key to display map with BF1942 back in the day for 2 years...
friends and a good squad is fun with Bf games

lots of rush in BC2

no prone made a massive difference as well

Hmmmmm, anyone have any thoughts to what Dice LA are working on then? I was talking with a friend about it and we have an idea

lol EA's rep and here we have people throwing money at them before even a beta has dropped.

Indeed. It happens every time and it's why companies such as EA can just release any old unfinished, buggy ****.

Has there been any mention of fortifications or ability to rebuild areas of the map, that created interesting tactics and capture point diversity in BFV

Half decent idea but really didn't get all that much use, you could spend a lot of time setting up fortifications and have a friendly tank trundle through it and flatten everything in seconds. It was handy for some things like assembling at guns or hedgehogs but that was about it.

In bfv the implementation was bugged (no surprise there) and a lot of the time there was no hint that an area had an at gun that could be built, vs the infantry mg which had the parts sitting there which was a better visual clue.

Vehicles towing guns was another OK idea that didn't seem to get used much either, I think in battlefield a lot of players are set in their ways for certain things and new additions barely get used. I would have thought a tank towing an aa gun to fend off planes would be a nobrainer, I can count on one hand the amount of times I actually seen anyone do that.

Maybe working on the other gameplay mode that hasn't really been shown yet.

We think they are re-modelling and designing all the iconic maps from the previous BF's, like 1 or 2 from each game, and bringing them into the same timeline and setting, as there are only a handful of maps at the moment.

they are working on a new mode. i think it maybe something BR or similar and they just call it a different name. :p

as said probably just tweak it and call it a different name.

The only thing I can think they'd do is lean on their vehicle warfare a lot more than CoD. Each squad gets a certain amount of points to call in what they need and the map is HUGE.

Uh-oh....bots in multiplayer confirmed :( Hopefully this doesn't end up like PUBG where 90% of the player base are bots!

  • Multiplayer – AI soldiers are used for server-filling capabilities, ensuring your matches remain full, no matter your location.
  • Co-Op – Allows you to play together with friends, against AI soldiers.
  • Solo – If you wish to perfect your skills for multiplayer, you can even play alone against AI soldiers.

I don't see this as a problem, as long as in the server browser it shows the number of PLAYERS and doesn't count a bot as a spot taken. That way if you want to jump on a less chaotic server if you want to try some fun stuff out without being shot every 5 seconds. It just means that those that like niche play modes that might not be as popular won't be left without an empty map. And as long as the server drops a bot to make space for a player.

I'm happy with the AI implementation alone due to the above.

Theres always a lot of things they seem to leave out on each battlefield.

I loved the 2142 drop pods, but again it didnt work in bf4...
The drop pods were so cool although I remember our country internet really struggled with them. There could be a big delay between it hitting the ground and you actually being able to shoot.

The new mode is called hazard zone, its talked about at 36:28 in the dev interview.

They talked but it just sounded like waffle and a new name for battle royale. High stakes, squad based gameplay where good comms are needed and sweaty palm tension building moments.
May aswell have called it ‘Warzone 2.0’ :D
Hopefully it is just that, but less cheaters due to it not being free

Definitely battle royal. They would not release without one in the current climate.

Yup, need to attract a big chunk of the Warzone crowd. If they do they’ll be in the money for sure.
I also expect that Warzone players that havent bought Modern Warfare or Cold War (like some of my mates) would happily pay £50 for a Warzone type game that has less cheaters. They havent bought the game but occasionally buy cod points to buy things like skins

For me it all hangs on the game mechanics and how it ‘feels’
