I cant think of any other reason for them than showing off, you can see your own K/D whenever you want ingame, why , other than to show off, would you want anyone else to see them?

I like to see how other people are doing and how I measure up against them so as to have an idea how much I need to work on my own combat game.

But wouldnt that only be relevant for your points score? I mean if I am running as a medic whose job is to keep people alive and well, then comparing my K/D to the K/D of anyone else is meaningless because 1) I dont know if they've been bothering to heal and rez or whether theyve been running and gunning 2) I dont know if theyve been PTO or just killing , and perhaps the biggest one 3) I dont know if they've played this round as a medic entirely or whether they just happen to be in as a medic when I look at the K/D and have spent the rest of the round as a sniper or an assault or in a tank or heli etc, all making it virtually impossible for me to make a fair comparison of my own stats with those of another player.

Unless that player has been in my squad which would have course mean that I know what classes he has been playing and what style during the match... all of which is already catered for because you can see your squadmates K/D etc

I generally have a fairly good idea of what has been going on in a round, at least from my perspective and what I can infer from my experience. Combat ultimately is still what underpins the game.

You're a far better player than me, I can just about track what classes my squadmates are playing, I've no hope of tracking what various classes the other 60 people on my team have played as during a match :)

Even so, I'd put money on you being more the exception than the rule, I'd wager that statistically (and if the players were being truly honest and not fibbing) most players want others to be able to see their K/D because they want to show them off.

I can't believe more fuss isn't being made about the specialist thing. ....it just makes ZERO sense. I swear I was on the map with 119 other Websters! Why aren't there different characters for the factions? Sure I guess we only ever used to have 8 character models before ...but now they have names...and theyre the same for both teams is retarded unless this is some kind of clone war!!

Have they confirmed that the way it works in beta is how it will work at release? Or at release is there a limit on them or a requirement to unlock them etc?

Having fun is the more important factor in gaming for most people. For those who are not concentrating for whatever reason might get bothered by seeing a bad KDR which might affect the feeling of enjoyment so I can understand why but in a world full of people with differences, why not give people the option to display this? Then those who can be negatively affected by constantly checking their match progress can have more fun and those who want to see everything to pinpoint their failings and successes can do that too.

Everyone is going to want to show it off if they are any good to some degree - but it isn't the over-riding reason for everyone.

Problem I find these days there are far too many people who either want to see their name up in lights without having to put the effort in or get their feelings hurt if they are trailing score or kills and again don't want to put the effort in to improve it.

I'm decent, not as good as I once was, in my younger days I was extremely good. These days though I've dropped in ability somewhat but I can still hit 40+ kills on foot (I'm assuming thats considered decent) but never in my whole time of playing BF games have I ever been bothered whether anyone can see my K/D , why would I? Its a game, I've no need to brag to people about my scores in a video game. I mean put it this way, I would never say that its a bad thing or a negative for a game to not show a K/D scoreboard. It simply isnt that important to me to be able to see everyones K/D and whilst you have pointed out a positive of seeing them I still think there are more negatives to seeing them than positives.

i would say 40+ kills on foot is very good. In my bf3 days if I got in the zone I could do 30+ but I'm a bit of a close range headless chicken and my reactions at 48 aren't what they were at 35

Though FPS game have kept my reaction times outside of games pretty good...

its hard to say didnt spot anywhere on the beta map that would be suitable for either of those game modes

Ok thanks, it does seem pretty strange that this close to release there is not much information.

Based on that and the fact that this beta is a bit of a mess I'm going to cancel my pre-order. I'll try it on EA-Play and if it's got the modes I want and it's improved from the Beta I'll buy it.

I think there's plenty of work to do, but the beta is 2 months old so hopefully 30% has been sorted by now, and another 30% for the extra month they've taken. Leaving 40% of the bugs to iron out after launch. This would be more than enough for me, I'm enjoying it and think with the 2 extra game modes and no single player this will be good.
