You know BF42 is oddly, with all of its problems and faults, is a game that has raised the bar. After playing the game for 90 hours or so now, I go back to other games and they are a decidedly boring affair compared.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm?

Which areas does it raise the bar in? Even graphically it’s not top tier.

At least with 3 and 4 there was a film style colour palette to it. Granted some of the filters were a bit rather extreme. 3 had a heavy blue tint on some maps. With this it has a toony Battle Royale feel to it.

They should just call it quits now tbph, pull the plug ea, it's time for the bf franchise to die. It really would be the best thing for the BF franchise/dice as hopefully a better, more trustworthy/less greedy publisher will pick it up and let the developers work to their vision, however, having said that..... all the talent that made BF 4 and previous games are long gone now so not even sure if that would help....

Yes, I know it has huge problems and not for everyone.

But man; raping the enemy team with the Nighthawk is fun.

Then today at the end of the match, saw the Orbital rocket blow up for the first time. Right in my face, on an HDR1400 monitor, searing my eyes, with surround sound blasting. Was glorious; no other game really provides such an experience.

I would say the game raised the bar for "cinematic" BF experiences.

LOL :(

Almost every time a software developer mopes about "toxicity"/respect it is because they've ignored the constructive criticism because it doesn't fit with what they want to see and/or have too thin a skin and then people have finally got to a point where they are fed up of attempting to deal with it politely and are putting it unvarnished/bluntly, maybe rudely even, but rarely is it actual toxicity - but if it is actual toxicity that isn't acceptable.

Respect goes both ways - they need to pull theirs head out their behind, engage with the audience/customers and improve the product.

It's one of the reason why I always play with wartapes on. Proper surround sound just makes games so much better (unless it's alien isolation, then it's so much more intense:cry:).

Genuinley interested in what you see in the game that has raised the bar.
Between BF3 / BF4 / BF1 & BF5 I reckon I've got 2500-3000 hrs and after 30 hrs in 2042 I'm done and it's been uninstalled, I genuinley cannot pick out a single 'bar raising' thing in 2042.

My take is visually its worse than BF1 and BFV, sound is broken near useless, content is sparse, the new stuff they have added in so gimped its a waste of time, Portal is a massive miss, the weather events are gimmicks, the tone of some of the specialists feels like trying to insert Fortnight into a BF game and the stuff that is absent or just wasted is just laughable. Imagine the amount of wasted hours on planning and dev'ing Hazard mode. Who ever conceived that as an idea and greenlit in its current form has clearly not played a Battlefield before and should not be part of any future BF game.

For me aside from the sheer number of bugs and issues, the game just doesnt 'feel' like Battlefield and at its very core is the lack of the class system. Having 90% of the server running around with this weeks 'meta' build is just not what got BF players hooked.

Only bar this game has any effect on is the limbo bar, and it's already on the sand.

OK there are a lot of differences but what gets me is that the combat overall has a kind of cartoony almost Overwatch feel to it and while that is fine in Overwatch I have no idea why someone would want that in a BF game.

Personally I think BF4 almost nailed it though I think slightly nudging it from normal mode towards hardcore mode by about "10%" would have been perfect.
