*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

To me, that is not a BF game and certainly not a WWII game. I refuse to play a game in which a tank round to the face won't kill someone but a throwing knife at 50 meters insta-kills people.

The tanks do have machine guns for infantry don't they? Given the attrition system and lack of tank shells, I'd save them for vehicles and taking down buildings full of campers.

The rate of fire has been drastically decreased, makes it harder to hit them now coupled with the slower turret movement. Splash damage from what i've seen so far seems to be incredibly rare, even with heavier tank shells it doesn't occur too often.

Overall im enjoying the game so far, needs a few things tweaked\buffed and more vehicles would be nice, obviously Shermans and t-34 is a given. Near sure arras has a destroyed kv2 on it so that might be incoming for the russians at some point. Would love to see a tiger 2.

My ten hour trial has just ended. I enjoyed it on a few of the MP maps but others were unimpressive. Apart from the nit-picking we tend to engage in, for me, the game lacked the 'wow' factor. I remember the first game I played of BF1, which was I believe, Operations in St Quentin Scar, defending as the British, in the rain. I found that a really atmospheric and intense gaming experience and with graphics that had just jumped a considerable level from my last BF purchase, BF4. As graphically impressive as some of the BF5 maps are, I just haven't had that immersive experience yet with it. Maybe it will come with more familiar WW2 battles/locations or maybe I won't get that at all. For now, I'm trying to see where I can get it as cheaply as possible and for all I have said, I probably will buy it, as I usually only have time these days for one game on the go at any one time.

You raise a good point actually. Where’s the weather and the general atmosphere in this game?!

*sigh* Yup, that's Battlefield lately. I used to feel the same in BF1 when anti tank rounds bounced off cavalry when they got it full in the face.

Theres plenty of weather changes.

Unfortunatly the game now randomly crashes to desktop for me now.

Still a miriad of other bugs such as buildings getting destroyed but parts continue to float in the sky, its got that beta smell to it still.

Its better than bf1 which was a spray and prey fest but not a smidge on the greatest bf’s bfbc2/2142/3/4

The Peacekeeper in bf1 was a fidget spinner.

And goldeneye had a golden gun way back..

Don't know what you mean by the peacekeeper fidget spinner and Golden Eye wasn't a WW2 setting. GE on the N64 was maybe suited to having a golden gun. BF games are not, they're just slowly and increasingly with each iteration targeting the CoD kiddy like market with BS like that. It's as far removed from what its original core fans that have been there since the beginning want. IMO of course. It all started with that consolised bad company, it was the beginning of the end of the true pc bf days.

yeah - 6 hours for me is enough to say it's not for me.

Some good games/maps but no matter how tight and good your squad is, if you have 18 snipers on your team your going to win nothing.

Very buggy overall. Revives are awful - people stuck in walls etc. Felt at times all you did was run back and forth to the same capture points. Capture A, run to B, loss A, Cap B - run back to A......Rinse and repeat.

Just seems to lack that Wow factor for me - nothing makes me think I can't wait to play it again.

Not as fun as Battlefield 3/4?
