*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Thanks for your feedback Hazard.

Both of these are a big worry and you're quite right.

Gun buffs sound terrible, is this a lot different to BF4 attachments?

Visibility, this was clear just from videos, i really hope they change this.

That is terrible if true. If they are easily obtainable like in 3/4 then it isn't a problem but if it ends up as pay to win then no thanks. Also most BF3/4 attachments had a negative to the positive to equal the playing field. For example heavy barrel gave a great positive but you had to master increased recoil for it to be of any use.

I wouldn't describe it as pay to win unless they allow you to buy in game currency with real cash, and offered weapon skill tree shortcuts. It's more that it exaggerates the gap between a new player and a player who has all the unlocks while also having practice and map knowledge. In bf1, the first ten levels for each class would unlock tranches of weapons, but the starting weapons were all still good. I thought the bf4 system was a little dodgy with the attachment unlocks (which had a pay to progress element if you didn't just wait for attachments to be grinded or randomly dropped in a free battlepack).

Edit: I should add a note about performance. Like bf1 the game loves CPU cores, I expect non hyperthreaded quad cores will suffer.

What's the difference with the deluxe version?

20 weekly items with Airlift
Receive vital supplies with 20 weekly Airlifts, each containing one customization Item.
Do you start with better kit that gives you any advantage or just cosmetic?

Deluxe Edition Special Assignments

???

Practice and skill should make a player better at using a particular weapon, not buffs, otherwise 6 months down the line new players will suffer the double whammy of facing a practiced skilled player who also has a significantly better weapon. If they are going to go down this route, then there should be tiered servers where lvl 1 players are not exposed to high rank players with significantly better arsenals.

Not happy, possibly just killed BF V for me, because:

Don't get much gaming time in due to work, but more importantly i'm at a disadvantage in the first place due to having reduced mobility in one of my hands, it's hard enough in the first place but now they are disadvantaging me more with the buffs, I'll get slaughtered, gutted.:(

Thanks for the heads up.

Where? The red is packet loss right? There's hardly any in the evening when I been playing. Between 6 and midnight when I had a disconnect in every round, I can't see any red, maybe like 1% or 2% but everyone gets tiny packet loss right?

The red is packet loss.

I have no packet loss.

But yeah it is a bit unusual for that small amount of packet loss to be causing issues in only this game, could be that bf 5 is more sensitive to packet loss or/and a problem on your end, be it the port or/and Ethernet cable/wireless dongle or whatever you use.

-The weapon progression system that allows you to use in game earned credits to improve your weapon's stats (bullet velocity increase, spread reduction, hip fire recoil reduction etc) makes it really difficult to objectively determine if a particular weapon is much good. If you start your first play as a medic with the sten and come up against a buffed STG assault, skill is not going to save you from the boosted high rank enemy. Practice and skill should make a player better at using a particular weapon, not buffs, otherwise 6 months down the line new players will suffer the double whammy of facing a practiced skilled player who also has a significantly better weapon. I dont see any issue with the gun upgrade system at all. I don't see it difficult at all for people to earn enough coin to spend on the guns and set them up specifically for their own play style. I definitely do not see it as a disadvantage to new players. If you're good you'll get kills regardless of upgrade or not.

I personally think it's an excellent system, I just wish there where longer skill trees and more options to chose from.

Bought myself a brand new cat6 cable today, will arrive tomorrow from Amazon. It might just be an issue with my own cable, I made this one for myself like 5 years ago, it's a 20m cable so it might be showing it's age a little and losing a little data over the length.

I suspect a lot of people who try the game on an Origin access 10 hour trial might get put off from buying and continuing to play. I'm not concerned about EA losing sales, more as to whether we have healthy server population in the long run other than the hard core fans. We'll see if it works out or not.

The packet loss showing on thinkbroadband is on your router/modem end.

But yeah, the dropouts etc. could just be down to your current Ethernet cable.

Guys how would you say performance compares to the alpha? Nvidia crew especially

Also Tony could you post a screeny if your settings so I can compare when I get on tomorrow night?

These get me around 120fps on average, dips to about 80 or 90 when a V2 explodes etc but in general play it's always north of 100fps.

You can now slide round corners, so halfway there :p

In bf1 you used to be able to slide round a corner and then immediately slide back again. I know some of the "competitive" players didn't like it when this feature was removed. The same ones who would abuse the zuzu jump in bf4 as much as they could.
