*** The official beard thread ***

I go on average once a month for a hair cut. My beard does grow fast, but I haven't ever gone beyond maybe 8-9 days of growth so leaving it for a few weeks is breaking new ground.

I'm excited to see if having a trim beard will actually work for me.

Thu will be two weeks of growth. I do have a decent amount of growth and I do admit it is starting to get itchy. I read online that beard oil can help. But is it too soon to start using such products?

Around week 4 my face was horribly itchy and oil did help a bit, i soon moved on to beard balm instead though. Didn't like the greasiness of oil

Another vote for Bulldog Beard Balm, also there Beard Shampoo is really nice too (as is there face wash range... I like there products).
Found them both a lot nicer than the Brisk stuff from Boots, also investing in a good boar bristle brush and quality comb (Kent Men's handmade are what I used to use), will go a long way to stopping itching and keeping it nice and soft.

I've currently got about 7 days of growth on my face and look like a tramp. :p

Any tips? Should I start to trim it? I was thinking I might need to go to a proper beard barber to give me some shape. But I would probably have to grow it for a few weeks yet before I do that.

My beard is very sparce but I have decent growth on the places where it does grow. As such, I tend to trim it back to 6-7mm once a week and it looks pretty even across the face as a result. I've found that letting it grow out won't magically fill in those patches unfortunately, unless you intend to grow it out for around 3 or 4 months - I've just never found the patience to do so. Of course YMMV - all beards are unique, mine's just that of a young gent (despite being 29 :o)

I normally groom my beard myself but broke my collarbone so went to barbers this week. Had a couple of inches off the length and a much needed tidy up. I like it a little shorter for the summer.

Mother in law bought me some Bulldog conditioner and oil. I like the conditioner and the oil is ok. Best balm by far for me has to be Beard Commander Wonder Balm. Gives a nice soft, conditioned feeling and the two scents I have smell amazing! Doesn't give great hold though as it is a soft balm but keeps the hairs feeling and looking healthy.

I have some off the Brisk stuff from Boots, balm and the oil. The balm gives decent hold and I like the smell off it but once applied the scent wears off rather quickly. The oil I like as it's high viscosity, in comparison to some of the other oils I have. Again not a strong scent but pleasant enough(citrus) It's also cheap, especially when on offer.

Same boat as me. 29 and beard is sparse and patchy. The most annoying thing for me is that my right side has more bald patches than left. Wish those would fill in a bit...

I'm the same. I have no hair on my cheeks and the left side of my connectors is sparser than the right. Annoying! I'd love a full moustache too but mine is a bit weedy.
