**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Ordered one from Amazon instead. $139 from Oppomart works out around £92. Sold on Amazon from @memory at £95. It's fulfilled by Amazon, so if anything goes wrong they can deal with it.

Have never looked back since buying my monkeyking, always buys phones direct now.
people **** off the mediatek chipsets but honestly they are not that bad. Will never beat the flagship phones but for half the price i don't see how people can complain.

I was looking around last night, and I couldn't find anything were Xiaomi themselves explicitly stated that the Redmi Note 2 would have the Sharp/AUO/JDI or whatever panel. It seems that online retailers, hype blogs and others have assumed it would or does, simply because the Mi Note, Mi Note Pro and Redmi 2 use(d) those panels (and it's explicitly stated on xiaomi's website that they do so).

You can double check here: http://www.mi.com/en/minote/features/ and here: http://www.mi.com/en/redmi2/specs/ to see them stating those phones use those panels.

However, on places like Oppomart, they seem to be using a cookie cutter copy and paste job for advertising the phones.

An amazing product is built from amazing components, and once again we have raised the bar. We came to the decision early in the development of theXiaomi Mi Note that we wanted a 5.7-inch full HD display but while others only concern themselves with screen size and resolution, we have taken care of the details too. Working with AUO/Sharp we offer you a screen with advanced Panel Self Refresh (PSR) technology, lower power consumption, a pixel density of 438 PPI, up to 450nit brightness, and a 95% reduction in reflection thank to a full GFF lamination.

For the Redmi Note 2: http://www.oppomart.com/xiaomi/redmi-note2/xiaomi-redmi-note-2.html

An amazing product is built from amazing components, and once again we have raised the bar. We came to the decision early in the development of theXiaomi Redmi Note 2 that we wanted a 5.5-inch 1080 display but while others only concern themselves with screen size and resolution, we have taken care of the details too. Working with AUO/Sharp we offer you a screen with advanced Panel Self Refresh (PSR) technology, lower power consumption, a pixel density of 403 PPI, up to 450nit brightness, and a 75% reduction in reflection thank to a full GFF lamination.

As you can see from the red highlights, they've just tweaked the blurb to a few numbers relating to specs. So people reading that will see Sharp/AUO/JDI or whatever and think that that's what the phone is using. Can't really blame Xiaomi for that. Although they could probably have been a lot clearer on what panel they were using in the first place, considering they quite clearly state what they're using in phones in the links to their site above.
