what was confusing the most was the different camera variations, some look like the new iPhone and others don't.

Will wait another couple weeks and then pull the trigger I think.
 
Either I missed it originally or over the weekend Xiaomi released a global rom for the Note 5 global. Looks like I'll be making a purchase next month in that case.

How is everyone finding MIUI 9? I'm liking Lineage but seems a rom for the Note 5 might be awhile away.
 
Just reading this thread and there seems to be prices on what seem good phones.

Is no one worried about these coming with built in spyware etc? Or do you simply wipe it and load a new ROM?
 
If phone is sealed then it should have a legit rom with it and can be updated via the phone itself. Else it's best to play it safe and flash the newest global rom to it. For Xiaomi in particularly though you need to unlock the boot loader first.
 
Lol makes me laugh, spyware on Chinese phones, Jesus Google knows when your wiping your butt, I have not come across any spyware on any Xiaomi phones that I have owned but they install the play store and enough said.

any experience of Ali Express with returns? i am keen to upgrade my note 4x as i damaged the screen, but never ordered from them, i have an acct too.

No, frankly if it is the same one they have on their website for that price, then the spec for the price is utter rubbish.
- Poor SOC
- 1GB of RAM ... wasn't even aware that anyone was still making phones with this little memory in 2018
- 16GB of storage (9GB usable)
- 18x9 version of a 720p screen
- No B20

Given that the Global Redmi Note 4 (3GB/32GB, 1080p screen (although 16x9) and with B20) was available at that price point at the end of last year the above is poor. ref
