**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

I've unlocked the boot loader on my redmi note 10 pro and installed pixelos
What a difference, totally different phone now, everything just works, miui bloat and problems like notifications not working, sound issues with android auto, etc etc , all the issues gone
Id recommend anyone to do It

I'm thinking of doing the same or getting a Poco f5 (on a Poco f3 now)

Notifications used to, just work...

I saw loads having problems, then all of a sudden,I noticed the same thing. I don't mind this UI but I just fancy something new/different

What steps did you do to unlock bootloader? I've got same phone and wanting to do same but I just keep going round in circles.

I've enabled developer mode, usb debugging and OEM unlocking.

Gone into Developer Options -> Unlock MI status and linked my Mi account with wifi turned off.

Rebooted into fastboot

Downloaded the Mi Unlock tool to my pc and run it. Logged in and software detects my phone.

Unlock then Unlock again.

Verfying device gets a green tick but I then get a message in Mi Unlock to add my account in Mi Unlock status which I've already done.

I did virtually the same. I made sure i had my phone logged into a mi account first though and then went through the above steps. Have you got a mi account setup on your phone before doing it in the developer options?.

Yeah. In Settings -> Mi Account I'm logged in and it matches account that I'm logged into on Mi Unlock. I keep reading that there's a wait before Xiaomi unlock the bootloader once you've done the dev options bit and linked your mi account? Did it work first time for you?

Yes there is a countdown clock and i had to wait for seven days until I could unlock the bootloader. If you try and unlock it again you will see the countdown in hours

That must come up after I've got past the bit I'm stuck at.

Out of interest did the computer you got it to work on have an intel CPU? The official Xiaomi troubleshooting say to have Win 10 with an intel cpu but I have Win 11 with an amd cpu. I'm also finding information that it needs to be usb2 rather than usb3.

Stumbled upon this bat file but it hasn't made any difference.

I'll keep trying and hopefully I find a solution but this is getting very frustrating. Just let me do what I want to my own phone Xiaomi!

I'm running Windows 11, usb3 with a AMD processor.. The phone connected straight away to the pc and was seen by the miui unlock tool.
It tried to unlock and got to about 70% then it said I needed to wait for 7 days. I kept on checking every few days and the hours to unlock kept on going down until reaching 0 then it unlocked within seconds

Hi guys, POCO F2 here on global 13.0.3 MIUI. Been faultless for just over 2 years now except for one thing... wireless Android Auto. Just does not work for me. The best I will get is that it connects for a few seconds and then disconnects. I had it once where for an entire day it decided to connect wirelessly most of the time, but generally it's completely unreliable and I have to use a cable. I use exclusively android auto on both my cars and rely on it. I want to not have to faff with a cable and if I can't fix this I'm considering getting a different phone or flashing a different ROM onto it. My wife's Motorola is an older phone and works fine on the same headunit with Android Auto wirelessly. Is there any fix for it?

This is why i went with a custom rom with my Redmi Note 10 Pro. Android auto wireless is completely broken with MIUI and has been for over a year now.
Its still not fixed with MIUI 14. The same bug remains so it looks like MIUI arent going to fix it. Basically as soon as your mobile looses signal or switches from 4g to say 3g the connection to the head unit will drop.
The only solution is to use a custom rom

I've heard of this issue, but surely to test that is easy, just disable mobile data entirely and then it should go away and still work? Mine behaves the same and still won't connect. :(
I've also heard to disable dual apps as this interferes. I've never even had this enabled so don't think it's that.
Also read someone suggest that because Android Auto was not an original system app (i.e. with MIUI OS) that google treats it as not secure or something like that, which is why it is flakey. Not sure about that because as I say, wired mine is 95% of the time ok.

Quick question then scoobydoo on flashing. I haven't flashed and done any of that stuff for years now so I'm not up to date:

1: How much of a faff is it to flash and how much risk? I read of having to unlock the boot loader by doing something in your online account then waiting X days?
2: Can I return to stock to sell the phone if I want to?
3: Will banking apps, bitcoin apps, NFC and financial stuff all work ok?
4: Any other cons I should know about?

Im not 100% sure the procedure for unlocking the POCO but for my redmi note 10 pro..
1) Unlocked the bootloader using the miui unlock tool
2) You can flash miui back and return to stock if needed
3) Banking apps, NFC all works but this depends on the custom rom your installing.. Im using PixelOS
4) No cons for me at all, everything works such much better on the custom rom but again it depends on your device and which custom rom you install.

As for the android auto wireless issue its well documented in various forums, and is the same if your using a aawireless device. They just dont want to address the issue in miui and this is why
its been broken for so long.
