There has been a way to unlock the bootloader without their unlock code. There are cm roms available as well as others. All this you can find here:

Would it be possible to edit the OP to put links to the best outlets in Asia and the eu up, I looked at a few of the sites who's names keep cropping up and there are some serious bargains to be had, usable phones from £30+.

Still rocking my Letv (now LeEco) Le 1s.

Pone is working as it should now, no problems now other than BBC media player freezing at 9secs in. Can live with that :D

Mine does that. Survivable, but I always forget and then get annoyed with it.

Also occasionally the dialler crashes, which is annoying but usually fixed with a reboot.

Been using my redmi note 3 3gb Helio x10 for a few weeks now and got to say for 150 I'm impressed. One thing I have noticed is that games can get laggy when the processor gets hot. Even on CoC. So maybe worth paying a bit more for the pro/snapdragon version. Otherwise all works well with good battery life as well. Just wish they would release a global ROM for mediatek version but to be honest I'm not having any trouble with whatever ROM came with my phone. Notifications can be a bit hit and miss though.

Just got my LETV X600 and installed MIUI 7/play store. Seems decent for £108!

looks nice mate. bargain aswell. good thing about these chinese phones is that theyre so cheap that you just buy a new one if you dont like it after a wihle

If I take the plunge and get a redmi 3 is there like a protocol that should be run when getting it (flashing, booting ect) or should it be good out of the box?

Also, how much of it would be in Chinese?

i think the main thing is to flash the most recent rom straight from xiaomi (http://en.miui.com/download-298.html) and then install google play (http://en.miui.com/thread-222425-1-1.html)

the phones sometimes come with a lot of bloat/trojans/viruses etc. so best to flash the one straight from xiaomi to make sure youve not got any of them nasties

Thanks for this.

Just bought the redmi3 from eBay which comes installed with miui 7.1 and gapps.

Should I still be looking to install the ROM in the link you've given? Also, what is the process? Do I need to install twrp and then flash?

Hi guys

Where is the best place to buy the mi4c please?

Thanks
Assuming you're in the EU, the cheapest place I've been able to find it is Gearbest, at £182 including free 1-2 day shipping. I was on the verge of placing an order for one, but now I have seen the Mi5, I am hesitating...

I took the plunge with an ebay job yesterday, in the description it claims that:

"NEW STOCKS NOW COMES WITH LATEST MIUI7 WITH GOOGLE PLAYSTORE & APPS PREINSTALLED!!"

I'll recce it when I get it but I'm still tempted to flash it just incase there's any bloatware on.
