**ignore saw you have redmi not note**

did you try the fastboot method i linked previously?

http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html

I did it this way and it took about 15 minutes. mine was a sealed box so i was starting from the official chinese rom. check what rom you starting with as that can cause issues if the reseller flashed a rom on to it.

did yours come with google play store?

ROM is 7.1.1.0.0 LHPCNCK and yes, came with play store.

Fastboot does not work as get a device is locked error. The only success stories are putting the phone into download mode (opposed to fastboot).

I am trying to flash the latest China fastboot.

Will try again later today.

It shouldnt come with play store so i presume the ROM has been flashed already by reseller (or maybe they installed play themselves)

do either of these links help?

A bit confused about the redmi note 3 pro procedure to update to global rom. There's this official guide here:

http://xiaomiadvices.com/update-xiaomi-phones-to-miui-7-global-stable-rom-tips-tricks-tutorials/

which suggests you can just update using the built in software.

But then there's the guide you linked to above:

http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html

which says you need to use fastboot etc.

Anyone know why these differ?

At a guess, built in software for those on official ROMs? Mine is custom and I can't use the updater app.

So will need to see what spemall send out - whether they have modified the software in any way. I'll probably go ahead and unlock the bootloader and root. Just worried about bricking the device! There seem to be a bunch of different guides out there, all differing slightly, depending on which forum you look at.

i tried via the updater app for my redmi note 3 pro as it looked nice and simple but it did not work. i used the method i linked to previously. didnt think you could go from china rom to global rom via update app

Thanks for the link mate, I have just started it now when I connect it to computer, it does show the device for the phone in my computer, but in device manager it appears in other devices and looks like it just says Android with warning sign next to it assuming the driver isn't installed? how to enter in ADB mode? Thanks again

Tried these methods.

Getting a device is busy error in miflash 'error loading type libary/DLL (0x80029c4a:wait port ready to use 9)

phone in download mode via cmd prompt - although no red light on the phone which some have mentions occurs in download mode.

Hi guys

I can confirm I have now resolved this.

Steps:

1. Download & install miflash on windows 64 bit machine. Open miflash from program files xiaomi folder.
2. Download latest stable rom
3. Unzip latest stable rom to c: (make sure no spaces in file name)
4. Click advanced in miflash and point direct to each individual file (flashall.bat) etc.
5. Flash
6. remove usb cable
7. power off.

Job done.

Now I have the latest stable release (chinese) i have to remove all the horrible bloat, but wasn't keen on running a rom from an unknown seller (eBay) so content.

Good luck.

So you didnt have to put the phone into download mode by either holding down buttons or using adb commands?

Just received my Xiaomi Mi5 setting up seems smart but I am waiting on a Nano sim from Three before I can start using it with network.

I am currently just using Wifi but it wont sign in to the play store for some reason says cant connect to servers.

Mine does that. Survivable, but I always forget and then get annoyed with it.

Also occasionally the dialler crashes, which is annoying but usually fixed with a reboot.

Haha same, it's a weird one and only with BBC media player.

Don't have dialler problems or anything else really, just the media player.

Still impressed with the phone and don't see a need to upgrade yet. I'll do so when there's the ideal chinese phone with better camera, larger battery and micro SD card slot at a reasonable price. I'm sure one will appear this year from China :D

Have you checked the version of the ROM that it's an official release?.. also make sure date/time settings on the phone are correct as this can sometimes give connection errors..
