**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Has anyone got a Redmi 3 or Redmi 3 Pro and used it on Vodafone?

I want to know how well 4g works on Voda with these, as they dont support all the 4g bands.

Yes.

I'll try it again when I'm on my pc. I was trying to do it on my surface pro 3, even tho it shouldn't matter, really.

Enable USB debugging and connect the phone to the PC in android. You should get a popup on the phone which asks you to authorize your PC (and to not ask again). Make sure you do this first, then put phone in download mode and connect as per the thread.

You definitely don't need to unlock to install official roms (stable or developer). I flashed the global stable rom before mine was unlocked.

And it takes roughly ten days to get the bootloader unlock authorised. I'd highly recommend asking for it either way, you can always choose when you want to unlock it. Personally, I'd forget MIUI roms and just install the AOSP rom as I referred to above. It's far better.

I have the snapdragon.

I got stuck on:

5.Open Device Manager and Phone will be detected as QHUSB_BULK

In the above guide. It doesn't show in my device manager.

Before installing the qualcomm driver did you boot windows into safe/advanced mode and disable 'driver signature verification'?.. had the same problem and device manager would not show the correct COM port until i did that.

But uh, the latest Global Stable ROM (V7.2.3.0) doesn't have google playstore? When I did the latest Global Stable ROM on my Redmi note 2 there was a Google package.

Depends on your area .

Voda is useless at my home even on 2g.

The band it does support may be alright outside but struggle inside.

So you have flashed the China rom in error, or due to his error lol, at least you can now just flash the global one and you should be sorted.

i haven't seen it mentioned in the past few pages and not much on google but is there really much difference between the Snapdragon 616 and 650 in the Redmi 3 Pro?

i'm guessing in the real world there won't be any real noticeable differences in speed?

The 616 in the Redmi 3 Pro has 4x 1.5GHz Cortex A53 cores as its main CPU where the 650 from the Note 3 Pro sports 2x 1.8GHz Cortex A72 cores, so the latter is a fair bit faster.

Depends what you do with the phone though, for regular use within the OS and some web browsing/ facebook/ whatsapp it'll be mostly the same but you will notice a difference in apps that properly use the CPU (like games).

The Redmi 3 Pro (SD 616) and the Redmi Note 3 Pro (SD 650) have different screen sizes (5" vs 5.5"). The non-pro version of the RN3 is a Mediatek chip, and performance is significantly lower than the SD version.
