What do you think of it? Any good?

Also I forgot to mention, the asus didnt run the conroe on the bios it arrived with 0062 , I had to borrow a P4 540 from work to boot up then flash the bios

I thought the asus was out of box conroe ready? I'll be seriously screwed if it isnt :/ Hopefully by time I come to buy on there will be newer releases wth newer bios (I hope)

the latest asus bios is the 0078, incase your not aware.

It seems prime stable at 3396 though only ran a few mins, it failed instantly above this. The bad axe did hours hours prime at 3822. It may be because its so warm in here today though, or maybe the .03v vdroop.

do these chips run quite hot cause your on water with not much volts and your hitting 45c

the 0602 is newer, it only came out last night.

Also every other bios Ive tried the vcore was stuck on auto, this 0602 fixed that.

They seem to be, im trying to find out other people temps atm, it is sweltering today though.

Hmm that's strange, because I thought Conroe ran cooler generally due to lower voltage needed to power them. Maybe increasing voltages causes the temperature to rise quicker? I'll have a look at XS...

Are you talking about the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS)

Cos I too will be well shafted if I buy his with a conroe 6600 and it doesnt work. Can anyone from overclockers confirm that this will work ou of the box? if not I'll be seriously miffed.

Yes im talking about that board.

I phoned overclockers to tell them and at first they told me it doesnt support conroe lol, after showing them it on there website they agreed it should and told me to take it to a local pc shop to 'borrow' another cpu to flash.

I told them they should put it on there website under the listing and they agreed, but doesnt seem to have happened.

BTW. There are people receiving asus's now with the later 0502 bios which is fine. It just depends on whether you get an old batch.

502 will not run all conroes... as i understand it. Depends on the stepping version. Step 5 needs a differnt bios? Can you confirm Devious pls

Also... know you're worried about temps... just to let you know, i have seen a 10c shift upwards with bios 602 and my 805.

AFAIK the 0502 bios is fine for all conroes :)

I think you may be thinking of the vcore problem, the ES versions didnt let you change the vcore. Bios 0602 fixed it for me.

Thats interesting as i still get the vcore prob - it comes and goes. I find 602 buggy and will therefore revert back to 502 :)

Ive not actually tried 0502, i went straight to 0504 vcore was unlocked with my P4 540 but when i switched to conroe it was stuck on auto.

With my 805 - when i flashed to 504 vcore was on Auto till i did a cmos reset.

Now with 602 sometimes (actually most times) when i change the FSb in bios the vcore goes to auto and is stuck there. Power off and re-boot seems to cure most times. Sometimes it comes and goes while in the bios :(
Must remember its a beta bios though - so not complaining.

That's actually *quite* good for a load temp...
