Don't like wearing ear defenders while at my PC :p

Nah something for the future I guess but I have reached my goal with water (4ghz) so I have no need for phase at this point in time. Wouldn't mind giving it a try for benching but I don't think I could cope with the noise/humming for a 24/7 setup, which I have been led to believe can be irritating.

Phase can be done with silence..

That is my main concern with my custom unit.

Mole is one of the best in the UK at phase change building, he's excited about my project :)

His last email was to say the new compressor is in and "its so quiet!" he says :D

Yeah I'm sure it can be made quiet and if anyone one can then the 'mole' is the man to do it so I've heard;) - but quiet compared to what? If it really is 'almost silent' (as in a mouse farting) then I'd deffo be interested as -50c with silence would be great.

Your PC is louder than a mouse Farting....

Come on! :D

UPDATE:

well easyrider, it seems you was right about giving it 1.5v
temp is about 4 or 5 cooler than normal as its the middle of the night

wadda you think?

Nice mate,

With 1.5vcore and those temps, which are fine I might add,I would go for a higher clock.

See how far you can get with 1.5v you might find 3.4ghz will be easy to achieve. :)

Heres my 6400 running happily @ 3.8ghz :D

Hi easyrider.

Thanks for the help,
just to keep you updated, its running in the daytime at 54 degrees idle.
id imagine that would rise to about 65 loaded using orthos.
(although its been hot here today !)
so i dont really want to push it too much with summer coming up.
also, ive not got a fan on the northbridge, just an antec spot cooler directed at it on full whack..ill have to get my fingers in there and see if its too hot to handle.

congrats on your clock, gotta admit im pretty jealous !

...i may try to get it up to 3.2 ghz but as i say im pretty worried about the temps, i dont wanna fry anything, so i may have another late night and try it when its cooler

Enjoy your 3ghz mate.

3ghz C2D is plenty. ;)
