***The Official Core i3 Overclocking Thread***

With it running at 4GHz @1.25v; I wonder how close to 5GHz it will go?

How much can I up the Vcore in my attempt? I only have a TX3 air cooler.

Well, I couldn't help myself at having a quick play... :D

Currently running 3.66GHz and the voltage is 1.144 according to CPU-Z. Think the VID is 1.175V

Not done any stability testing, but have loaded up Crysis Warhead for a bit and was nice and smooth.

Hello, my first post here and just thought i would share some results from my i3 530 that i picked up for $99 at microcenter. anyways onto some pics :D

settings:
182x22
1.1875v Vcore
1.05v VTT
PLL 1.8v
4:12 memory divider 8-8-8-24 timings @ 1.65v
Xxxxxxx H50 with 2x120mm fans in push pull.

ambient temps 21c
idle temps 23c/24c
load temps 46c/47c

i3 @ 4ghz with stock voltage after almost 8 hours of Prime95 large FFT's.

Hello, my first post here]
Welcome to OcUK forums simple_inhibiti!

Please read and understand the forum rules and enjoy your stay! :)

Thanks for sharing some results, nice 8 hour prime small ffts there, I'm still hoping someone will pop off an 8 hour prime *blend* with a 4GHz chip, curious to know how the off-die 45nm IMC holds up with the chips running so fast

Keep up the good work and catch ya laters!

Man you guys are getting some good low vcore OC's...

I might have to go back and tweak some more!

Nice overclock mate and welcome to the forums
I would get rid of that competitors name though:)

Im from the states and am not familiar with OcUK's competitors, but i felt that i should add my results for my i3. there just arent enough of them on the web. would i be safe in saying that the name in the first iteration of the validation link i posted is to a competitors site? I have edited it to remove the name, however if this is still unacceptable, i can remove the link entirely. :) Also, just to be safe i X'd out my coolers manufacturers name. I dont want to offend anyone or get the boot on my first day! LOL!

*EDIT* I took out the link above after reading the rules (thanks for posting them Big.Wayne) and posted a screen shot instead

@ Big.Wayne, ill run a blend test for you over night on my setup. but do know that my ram is only running at DDR3 1092 8-8-8-24 1T timings. if you want, i can bump it up a divider and see how it does, just let me know :D

By the way I ran 30 minutes of Prime 95 at 4.4ghz with 1.35vcore, 1.35vtt

Cool, I can see you making lots of friends here! :p

No problem, I'll make it really easy for you, there is only one shop in the world that sells computer hardware! . . . and these forums belong to that one shop, they pay for everything and all they ask is you do not acknowledge any others like them . . . otherwise this guy appears and it's all over!

All in your own good time, I appreciate any and all testing you can share with us . . . can I ask you what is your overclocking background? . . . are you a Pro? . . . do you hang out with Fugger or Kingpin?

is it worth setting up a separate i5 overclocking thread.

Got an i5 660, looking to clock it up to 4ghz easily..not sure how yet.

the 660 is the same exact thing as the i3 530, but it has a 25x multiplier and a base of 3.3ghz. itll do 4ghz easy, itll likely even do 5ghz on the right gear.

are you running a pcie video card, and have you tried playing games? prime has never crashed on me ever during my testing (application faulted once, but no workers stopped). ive had a hell of a time getting 3d apps and games to run smooth at low voltages though.

nah, im just a regular guy. ive been overclocking since the Athlon 64 days, so for about 5 years now. ive never done any dry ice or Ln2. just air and water cooling. i just like to tweak as a hobby :D

yeah, im running an HD5870 and have played about 5 or 6 hours of CoD MW2 on it at max settings just fine

Little odd. Updated BIOS for the Asus H55M Pro, and defaut voltage seems a little higher. Not that worried as I am still running 3.66. I just offset the voltage to some minus figure I can't remember right now.

Still not sure if I want to even try for 4GHz, as am happy with current speeds using less than stock voltage.

Seems I finally got some decent hardware though, as I always land up with stuff that doesn't clock very well. Not only does this seem to work nicely, but my 4870 I got recently is quite happily running at 850/1150.

Crysis is lovely and smooth. Only thing I don't have on very high at 1920x1200 is shaders.

The system overall is much snappier than my Q6600.
