The *Official* Crisys Thread

If I'm being picky the tree trunk looks too perfect :p

it looks a bit bland to me. the soft shadow on it is good the rest of the textures on the tree trunk don;t really look life like to me. looks kind of flat.

edit: crytek forum mentioned 16xAA on that scene.

The water and the bushes look 100% real to me , just there abit too clean.

bushes look ok, its the high rez textures that ate doing it all really. the details drops heavily though half way up the river and the trees at the back are just a blur, but thats how they did it in farcry to get better performance i guess.
water doesn't look all that good to me. its just the shadow on the water which is very nice.

i rekon turning off shadows in this game would give a serious boost in performance.

yea bushes look too clean really, they should have added insects etc. and some dirt etc.

I guess we cant be too picky :p , I mean its almost real lol, I did not really take much notice of the slight blue on the trees in the distance on the left.

one thing is, it looks good but wonder how we will be able to interact with it. and in the videos iv seen the the trees don;t really fall realistically.

can't wait for this game to come out though.

just found out some more, crytek forum mentions 64bit only for gfx to look as good as screenshot when they release content mod in future.

The 64bit shouldent be an issue since nearly everyone is 64bit compatible atm, I got 64bit Vista, well 32bit installed atm, but will install 64bit when its needed, found it was just as slow as 32bit.

I just thought about the shooting the tree down aswell, in real life, is it actually possible to shoot a big tree like that down? I mean in the vid I seen, I am sure there was only about 4 bullets fired and the whole tree came down

never tried to shoot a tree down so i doubt its possible unless the gun is a cannon of some sort.

IS THAT AN INGAME SHOT?!!??!! I still cant tell if its Crysis or real
Thats gonna need quad G92 ULTRA and double quad core with 16gb ram to work with a nice framerate

If you unload a clip at a tree I'm sure it would fall down, but as for 4 bullets I doubt it would fall unless the trunk was quite thin.

ahh yes, i was thinking about the tree outside my house, and in the uk most trees are built proper solid and not like those skinny ones at the beach or in crysis. so it may be possible to bust up a tree with a few bullets if its a cheapo tree.

doubt it would need such a spec. but from what the fourms are saying 1gb vram keeps popping up. at the end of the day i find that textures make or break a game. the higher the texture quality the more realistic the image looks.

Yeah. Well its early to say anything but do you think my rig (g80) will run that? I think I´ll upgrade to g92 anyway.. this gtx runs too hot and maybe 65nm will run a little cooler

lol

why do people keep asking that

Its always cool to enlarge e-willies lol

"Will it run on my brand new 8800 ULTRA???"

:D

actually, what I meant was, "will this piece of software that isnt released yet run on my computer!?!!?!?!?!"

you are correct, crysis running fully maxxed out apparently will make use of 1gig vram and use ultra high rez textures. thats thier secret weapon.
found this pic on the crytek forums:

crysis%20dx10.jpg

i have trully flapped.
but the character models in the water could still use more work the skin colour textures just don;t look right to me.

that does'nt look ingame to me, that looks like one of the comparison shots comparing real to ingame, maybie I'm wrong though.

The above is obviously a real pic, theres people swimming in the lake ffs. I very much doubt theyre gonna be doing that in the middle of korea with alien walkers and crashed alien ships hanging about the place. You can tell by looking at it that its real also, can't beleive anyone would think thats ingame.

lol download the pic to your desktop and look at the properties in windows

What sort of processor and ram and gpu does a canon powershot S230 have and can i buy one if it renders that good in realtime and what's this exposure time and shutter speed - they are new computing terms are they ?

:p

picture quality doesn;t look realistic enough to be real life. those people in the lake deffo don;t look real to me. look more like plastic dummies.
remember it doesn;t have to be a crysis shot, the word on the crytek forum is that that scene was rendered using the cryengine 2.
im rekon your using a tft monitor since i just checked the pic on my laptop and its much harder to tell the difference between real and rendered on the tft than it is with my crt.
