** The Official Days Gone Thread **

Been playing this for 35 hours now and very impressed with it. Very good game and can't think of any criticism anywhere. Great graphics and the voice acting is top notch. There are no characters that become annoying for some reason as most games have them.

The miserable looking gits who you rescue from certain death and recruit to your camps got on my nerves a few times, same character model used on most of them.

I signed the petition for a sequel, for what it is worth.

Over 120,000 signatures so far. http://chng.it/4zn9xDtkBq

people are chipping in between £10-£20 to !!

Fair point, maybe they are a bit annoying. Forgot about them :)

Yeah, they all say the same thing as well. Made me want to shoot them tbf if it was not for the camp credits.

I've been playing this for a while and notched up over 40hrs so far. I'm really liking the gameplay, and the fear when out numbered by a horde, is great fun.

But..... Deek! Man! He's really getting on my pip, he's such a deekhead. He's not a good guy, he's not a baddie, he's just a bloody ********! I can't empathise with this character at all, and his attitude towards other characters in the story is like a stroppy teenager.

Can't just be me surely  :D

I’m loving this game. total Surprise hit of the last few years for me and the first game in about 10 years I’ve actually looked forward to playing when I turn the comp on.

I know what you mean about Deek though. The flashback scenes with his Mrs are good but the other character interactions are all over the place. And his random Tourette’s style fast !SHOUTING! certain lines of dialogue is hilarious and very odd.

I'm some 5hrs into the game and the constant chatter on the radio is driving me insane. I half expect 'Cousin Roman' to contact me to go bowling. Trying to take out some nests via stealth and the radio might as well be tuned into air traffic control!

I have just left this old womans encampment (Tucker?) and am heading to Copeland's camp in order to drop off a bit of loot belonging to Leon. Halfway there Tucker calls me saying she has a bounty for me - sod off u-turning for that!

I find the controls a bit finicky for combat and keep fumbling around, the visuals are superb though and make up for that. The world, what I've seen of it so far is quite impressive, along with the ambient sounds and the weather.

Yeah I'm liking the game world too, although I found the visuals a bit washed out. Installing a popular shader pack has fixed that, and I can run at high frames with an increased render resolution, so it's looking pretty good now.

Yeah the colour toning and the stupid bright nights really let the visuals down. I'm a reshade addict though so it's not an issue for me. I tried out the one you linked last week - it's ok but as ever with these presets it has crushed blacks, is over sharpened and just overcooked all round, and doesn't solve the bright nights issue really.

You should look at the darkisdark one as it attempts to dynamacially fix the bright nights issue https://www.nexusmods.com/daysgone/mods/124?tab=videos

I make my own reshades though so I've taken this one as a base starter and then further tweaked the hell out of it as the darkisdark one is quite 'buggy' as it is (the transitions between light and dark are way too sensitive and twitchy and the luma detection settings janky, amongst other things)

Just started playing, few hours in and cleared the 1st horde. Looks very promising but the movement feels a little lethargic. Maybe because this was intended as a console-exclusive game, even one of the tips had a screenshot still showing the square button.

I'm really liking this new trend of Sony exclusives being released on PC but for the sake of my wallet I just hope there's some prior information as I've had to buy this game and Horizon Zero Dawn twice now :p.

Haha me too, worth it though for decent games

Just done the sawmill horde. I gave in and had to install a mod to increase blast radius on stuff as I stupidly played the game on hard and you can't change it mid game lol

Man, wolves scare the living daylights out of me. There you are cruising and next thing you know - you're pushed off your bike at speed and being mauled at :o

Finished it yesterday but theres plenty to do afterwards. What an absolute ride this game was! Enjoyed every moment of it, the superb visuals, the sheer terror, great vehicle customisation, decent characters - the game had everything. Only downer was the occassional dim enemy human npc's and their threat detection.

There are some minor elements like hostage npcs sharing repetitive models so budget (or covid) has clearly hit the game in some way.

Unlike the superb Mad Max where you get your fabled V8 right at the end when the game is practically finished and there is little else to do, it is a joy to see your bike improve as Days Gone progresses. It is a huge game - a lot bigger than I expected.

Days Gone gameplay wise can be split into early, mid and final game stages. I think this is where things went wrong with regards to the reviews. The initial early game stages are more of a stealth affair as the main character is a weakling with very little in the way of weapons. This is also combined with a lot of cutscenes and radio chatter, the latter of which is very annoying. Mid-game is where you can now hold your own as you have access to more resources to defend yourself and the final portion of the game sees you as an outright badass. The game, especially at night still remains quite tense throughout.

Despite the game having its fair share of issues, there are way more pro's and post game completion you've got extra menu tweaks that increase game longevity.

9/10

its a 2018 game and its more or less a console port content wise.

Quite a few people myself included point that one out too. Tried to blast them with my shotgun a couple of times but it didnt work. :)

after a while you can tell they are nearby (might be one of the skills/perks actually) and you just shoot them with your pistol as you ride past.

Only recently started this. Runs buttery smooth on my 3070 at 4K. Looks good and overall much better than I expected. Can’t complain for £11.99 :D

Shame no sequel, so will take my time and do all missions.

Completed the main story and just wrapping a few things up left on the map, probably a couple hours worthy and I will be done. Just wanted to say wow, what a game. Completely took me by surprise. The few reviews I saw made it sound ok at best, but this really is a very good game.

I would love a sequel. With a few tweaks here and there it would make for an awesome game. I mean they already set the story up for it and everything in this game.

If anyone here is looking to give it a try and is undecided, just go for it :)

It's no RDR2 but it's sure a damn lot better than cyberpunk when it comes to open world games.

I'm not a huge fan of all the forests though, everything starts to feel kinda the same
For me this is much better than RDR2 which I have struggled to finish. Not sure what makes RDR2 that special to be honest.

True me too I really struggled with it. I dont get the love for RDR2, maybe I should revisit it but after some annoying bits I was stood near a cliff, called my horse, it came running upto me ran into me and shoved me off the cliff and I died so I rage uninstalled.

Days Gone though I've noticed its been mentioned quite a few times on the news notifications that pop up on my phone not sure what the current story is there was some debate over whether there would be a sequel (or prequel). Only thing with the game that annoyed me was the flashbacks and you couldnt skip them.

Hahahahaha. Yea and one I remember was getting greedy at the bank robbery and then dying as a result and having to start the mission all the bloody way from the camp where you need to hear the same **** all over again for 5-10 minutes while you make your way there all over again. Like wtf…

Would love a sequel rather than a prequel, but would take that too. Agreed, only thing that annoyed me was some of the flashback being too long and not skipable. Usually I don’t mind but depending on my mood I just want to get on with it and not be forced to watch.

I uninstalled it today after clearing all the hordes and finding the last Nero gel. Apart from a few big hordes the small and medium ones are actually very easy once you get a machine gun. You just get them in a narrow space and mow them down. Depending on the size of the herd I would slow down time and lob a few grenadines in there watching a sizeable amount die.

One of the weird things was there was no achievement for clearing all the hordes or finding all the Nero injectors. Not that I am that bothered but after clearing so many of them you think you would get one as there were dozens of them. All in all though awesome game. Much more fun that RDR2 for me :D
