** The Official Days Gone Thread **

Just completed it, which is very rare for me. I’d say it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, definitely top 10. I really didn’t expect it to be after the first hour or two, but I gave it a chance and it settled into a decent pace and had the right balance. It’s a proper game, no pointless Ubisoft bloat or busy-work (RDR2). Just fun, with the right amount of grind and clearly made with love.

Loving the game but now using a much much faster GPU and the game is still only just playable.
I get a steady 130 FPS or so at 1440p maxed out yet when riding the motorcycle it feels horrible, can notice the game also slow down, not the FPS just like the actual speed of the game.. it is so weird.

It is very odd. I played this 3 times on a dated rig with a 1070 @ 1080p and the game was running well over 70fps most of the time. Slight frame drops later on at a particular horde but it was an excellent performing title.

I know man, I felt that way about RDR2. This game is so much better imo. I did not find it grindy at all, it was perfectly balanced. Just a shame it did not review and sell well.

If they do make another one I will support them and buy day 1 I think as I only paid £11.99 for this one and I had a blast.

I played it at 4K 60hz/FPS and it felt plenty smooth for me. Maybe latest nvidia drivers people complain about is the issue?

Same. I loved the main cast, its a shame we lose what seems to a be a brilliant character at some point but it would be great to see a follow up. I still can't see why folks and critics hate on the game - sure it isn't finished in a LOT of places due to it being rushed but the end product is still absolutely sound.

Just make sure the sequel has no wolves...the amount of mini heart attacks those buggers gave me.

It's an issue when you play at high refresh, the engine is not made for it.

I'm now 10 hours in, and actually enjoying it more and more it seems lol.

A few things that have helped in a big way increase the enjoyment so far, new monitor, the OLED absolutely makes a difference especially at night! And the new GPU. Whilst my 2070 Super was able to lock 60fps at 3440x1440 max settings, I now have the game locked at 120fps (144Hz gsync, vsync is off) - no preset framerate lock option for 144 fps in the game it seems but whatevs. 120 fps feels so much more responsive and smoother than 60 that I used to have before on the 60Hz ultrawide.

I actually bought the game on 18th May 2021, so have had it for over a year and only just now put 10 hours into it. I played RDR2 and many others in that time of course but would say I enjoy this more than the yawnfest that I felt RDR2 ended up being purely because the land is so vast and the things to do are so far apart that you end up wading back and forth endlessly.

Horizon Zero Dawn is another I tried to get back into but after several hours again just had to leave it as just wasn't pulling me in even though it too looks amazing and is very smooth/bug-free.

I should have the game changing weapon soon too so I've heard that changes the gameplay dynamic somewhat. Looking forward to that.

Really enjoyed this and HZD. Shame this one will not be getting sequel.

Have to say the way the camera moves and the way Jacob moves are as a combination, so fluid and natural. Have not seen that in any other game since The Last of Us series when I played them on the PS3 (and cannot wait to play on PC soon): With mouse and keyboard it just feels like a natural extension and everything feels intuitive just like TLoU was too.

Big jifs that showcase the above:

Yep. But I played it with my PS5 controller.

I play all these PlayStation games with my PS5 controller :D

Picked this up on the Steam sale a few week ago and now 12 hours in and I've been enjoying it, getting to the point now where I'm having to either afk in a camp or ride around waiting for the next radio message to come through to give me a mission.

Not had any bugs or issues that were prominent at launch, one thing I remember reviewers complaining at was the amount of cut scenes but I haven't felt that and feel the pacing is spot on.

All settings maxed out at 3840x1600 and averaging 110fps, not that it needs it but feels silky smooth.

Finally got around to finishing this today, wish I'd played it sooner, with all the negative press that came from the PlayStation launch I'd put it on the back burner however thoroughly enjoyed my time getting this completed, finished all the storylines off though it did take a little bit of time to work out how to get some done as I'd finished everything else I could before doing the 'final' mission.

Some of the hordes were challenging especially the saw mill.

Finished it today and 100%'d everything bar the hordes (cos **** those guys).
I was going to say thats one of the best games I've played in a while, but it's of the best I've ever played.
God only knows why I left it so long, and for the few quid it cost on a keys site, it was fabulous value for money and super entertaining.
A solid 9/10.

Very late to the party and enjoying this so far, but doesn't help I mostly know the story from watching bits of PS5 playthroughs.

What? Killing the hordes is like one of the best things in the game!
