The Official Dell 3007WFP thread (including pictures!)

I have just recieved a message from dell that there will be no price reduction on the 3007wfp monitor to anyone as of NOW.The price everyone will have to pay is the price on the webside. The reason for this is that there is no competition out there,so why should they sell it cheaper to resellers.I do not think this will be the last we hear about this.If i do get further updates i will let the forum now.

Are you saying that resellers like overclockers has to pay the same price as normal buyers now ???..

Or are you saying you want it at trade price because resellers can get it for trade price ???

It's there own monitor so i guess they can do what they like with it..

Yes resellers will have to pay the same price as on the website. As it stands at the moment, there is no further price reduction even for buying in volume. That applies to anyone who resells.I have just been told there is a meeting this afternoon,so i will update if i get more news.

I paid £899 for mine.

Thankfully avoided VAT, so got a bit of a bargain.

The OCUK price is actually very good. FAR cheaper than Dell. Is this likely to change?

for those with an OCUK PoV card (like me). looking on their site (point of views) for info - says
Dual DVI support
Able to drive the industry’s largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays.
for 7800 GT/X

does this mean dual-link or just that there are 2 DVI ports? This doesn't make it clear. Further down again it also has a list "Supported High Resolution Graphics Modes". this maxes out @:

Resolution.........Colours...............Vertical Refresh Rate
2048 x 1536......8/16/32 bits........60Hz

but this is above single links bandwidth afaik  cant that only handle 1920x1200 @60hz?

wow, got a reply already. nice

Thank you for having one of our products. Your card will support the requested mode, but only over the DVI port.

see specs :
Dual-link internal TMDS (DVI 1.0) Maximum resolution over digital port (Single GPU and SLI mode) 2560 x 1600 x 32 bpp at 60 Hz (reduced blanking) Supports Apple Cinema Display, including SLI mode With kind regards Point of View / Techncial Department

sweet :D. think the info can be added to the description on OCUKs site? with monitors like this out now, its something we should be able to check without having to mail around.

in the 3007WFP? where have you heard it is not using a Samsung panel already? Afaik it uses Samsung's S-PVA LTM300M1, 30"WS panel

i called dell call center my self about it just after new years, and guy said initial batch will LG panel, few others on other forums have been told the same thing only reason ive held off buying one.

also anyone know if the xfx 7800gs agp card thats due in feb will have dual link?

mmn, that's odd, I will try and get some clarification. If it is an LG.Philips panel then it would not be the same spec as that advertsied i dont think since LG make S-IPS panels and not S-PVA (which are made by Samsung only). They do have a 30" S-IPS panel though, the LM300W01 which is a different spec as you can see, 16ms response time, 400:1 contrast ratio.....i'd be surprised tbh, but i'll get some clarification :)

kewl badass.

and bruman, for x360 id say somat like the dell 2405 is better for a HTPC/home cinema use id say and LCd TV would be better. seen some pics posted by american oweners of this connected to HD setup box pic is not great.
but PC games like wow, fear and wuake 4 look good with a beefy pc

i've looked around on the web and can see references to the 3007WFP using an LG panel, but it all seems to be the same quote really:

Info I obtained today from Samsung, for what it is worth:
Samsungs own 30" raw lcd panel is spec'ed at 1000 with 8ms grey. The initial Dell 30" release will (according to Samsung engineering) more than likely be an LG panel, same as in the Apple. This info is current as of today from the Samsung engineering team that produces and supplies the lcd raw panels to Dell and other manufacturers. It is also possible that later on, some Samsung 30" panels may show up in the same 3007 monitor as the current LG panels without a spec change since Dell has to go with the lowest spec of the possible variations of the included raw panel used, but the initial supply will NOT be Samsung, again according to Samsung reps. Whether Dell is under specing the LG 30" panel as they did with the 2405fpw is unknown at the present time. The Samsung 30" Monitor for retail is still up in the air and will probably take a cue from the Dell 3007 sales as far as when and how much production, but it is clear that it probably has a better spec than the LG/3007.

now im not sure if this is a very reliable source tbh, and i;m not sure why Samsung would say this kind of thing. Anyway, perhaps it is true, but it would mean that the current quoted spec is unlikely to be true because an S-IPS panel is fundamentally very different from an S-PVA panel. The 14ms repsonse time would be wrong since the fastest S-IPS panels from LG.Philips are rated at 16ms so far. The fact they list G2G is another clue it isn't an S-IPS spec since they don't use overdrive to boost grey transitions. Brightness and contrast ratio are not realistic for an S-IPS panel.....

ive spoken with a friend who is in the TFT industry and he thinks there could be some confusion because of the Apple 30" screen (which does use an LG panel). I would be surprised if the Dell was using an S-IPS panel, but if there is any more info out there, please let me know, i'd be interested to read :)
