*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Good news: Destiny Beta will be available to all PS+ members even if you haven't preordered. So for those (like me) missed the alpha or want to test it before buying perfect opportunity. Bring it on!

Afraid not :(

You do know beta keys are being sold on a well known auction site for only 99p..

Other option is to place pre-order then cancel after redeeming your pre-order code online.. Save 99p!

Just thought I go on Holiday on the 15th July, hope the Beta stays open for quite some time!

Bungie has announced the specific beta timing for its upcoming "shared-world shooter" Destiny. On July 17, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 players can begin playing the beta, which picks up from the beginning of the game and includes a handful of Story missions, a Strike mission, and a selection of PvP Crucible maps. The beta will then go offline for maintenance on Monday, July 21, and return on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on Wednesday, July 23. The beta ends on Sunday, July 27.

The reactions of Xbox players on face book is quite amusing as they get 4 days, some very sad people out there really.

Collector's Editions detailed here:

Ghost Edition is $150 in the states... sadly in typical GAME fashion they decided okay we'll just charge £150 here.

I'll trying to decide whether to get the Collectors Edition at £149 or the Limited Edition at £95 but at the moment I'm edging towards the £95 Limited edition.. I'll probably change my mind when I get into GAME to pre-order

I really was looking forward to these editions
But cant justify the price, my brother in law goes to the US in september.. Might ask him to bring me the LE back

I begrudgingly pre-ordered the CE just to secure my copy but I'll be taking a look today to see if the £50 increase is worth it.

I used to get suckered in with these 'collectors editions' & 'limited editions' but I've come to realise, they're neither collected or really all that limited.

Game comes in a fancy box or has a tin case, usually comes with a trinket and an art book that you'll flick through once and never look at again, all for £100+?

Think I'll just stick with the standard version of the game & if I put enough time into it, and enjoy it enough, I might buy some DLC as it becomes available.

I think that's kind of subjective though, I really like collectible items (figurines, statues and coins seem to be the latest craze). I got an MK9 CE a few years back, the statue still sits amongst my others and every few months I take a look through the artbook. On the flipside, I didn't order the vanilla Diablo III CE and now you can't get it anywhere without having to pay a horribly inflated price and it still haunts me to this day.

I do agree with you on some level though, some of these CEs are a joke for what you have to pay and like you I have started to calm down on which ones I buy I'm pretty selective about that these days.

Once every semi-big release started with them I began to realise that they were just about squeezing a bit of extra cash out of you whilst you're still eager before release..

Some are better than others & I'm not slating anyone that buys them. I guess it's just me getting older, jaded and becoming a tightwad! :D

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to this.

I must admit I like collectors editions or at least some sort of limited editioned, it's things like that that I would really miss if everything went digital.

I'm now edging towards the collectors edition, simply because I'm really looking forward to this game and it will be nice to pickup at Midnight on release :)

Yeah, it'll be a shame to see progress reset but I guess it makes it fair for everyone who may miss out on the beta. I'm just looking forward to getting back into it again and seeing if I enjoy it as much a 2nd time around.

I have bit the bullet and canceled my 'plain' addition and ordered the limited edition, it was on pure impulse alone and I have a feeling this will be one of the best games/francise this year. Would love the Ghost edition but its just waaaayy to much for my blood. :(

Only difference is the Ghost model and three badges anyway
