Rank up with the cryptarch and then when you decode engrams you'll get better stuff, they'll all be base damage 57 but will upgrade to 62 with use.

Doing the strike on Lvl 8 difficulty also usually gives you good stuff/lots of encrypted engrams (if you don't want to pay for them). But buying is the quickest way to rank up with the cryptarch.
 
Well, myself and Shami have had quite a blast on it this evening. Game feels really good. Loving the lighting and the sound, from the music to the FX and voice work it's all awesome.

What I'm not loving is the unstable multiplayer, which means I am yet to finish a crucible game. It was fine in co-op missions. I don't think the problem is my end, although I do have a moderate NAT..
 
So I only started playing this last night on PS4, but couldn't play for more than 5-10 minutes as I kept getting server disconnect errors, which just threw me straight out to the start screen?

I know it's BETA, but is this normal? I've not even managed to clear what I presume is a SP tutorial mission!
 
Had some great games last night with Turbo and Lat, we got to do an epic open world event thingy against one of the spider tank things and had some great rounds in the crucible. Can't wait for the full release, it just seems like there's going to be so much to do it'll be impossible to get bored.

No that's normal, I've played it every day since that start of beta and only had one occasion where it said I had been disconnected and that was at the searching stage for PvP. But like you said it is a beta, they want people to break it so they can fix issues before release.

Good fun last night, must now try to level up my hunter to see what there like, but having too much fun with the warlock right now At least we have Last of Us coming out after the beta, as that will have go tied us over untill release.
 
Any xbox players please add me and I'll be playing later today for most the day/night :p (I've so far only tried the 1st tutorial)

Yeah... was awesome last night chaps!

Loved the Public Event when it dropped the Spider Tank - we all got a surprise at that :D:D

Really can't wait for the full release and will have genuine withdrawals at the end of the beta.

It's worth noting, that if you find a green gun that you can upgrade - do a bounty. This instantly upgrades a gun you have equipped. At least, it always does for me.

So If I find a new gun I quickly start a bounty, then the new gun is levelled up quickly and ready for PvP.
 
Does anyone know how many maps/areas there are in the full game? I've only seen the first one so far, Old Russia. It is big but I'm slightly concerned that you are going back there a lot for different missions.

I'm interested in knowing that too. Already getting the game but would love to know how big it's going to be.

Old Russia is just 1 area on Earth, I believe there are 4-5 planets/moons? and no doubt each one has multiple areas.

Also, bare in mind we have only seen part of Old Russia - there are loads of huge underground areas we can't get to yet too.
 
Just a query, but when I used to play FPS games on PC, talking CoD4 days now, the first thing I used to do was go into a map on my own to learn the layout, best ways to move around etc. Will I be able to do that in Destiny? Did Halo have that option for example?

I'm not a fan of running into a full blown game where I've no idea where to go that's all.

Just suck it up and take the hit to your stats :p

But on your point - I'd hope there is a way to jump into private matches where you could do just that, or just mess around with mates and have 3v3 games etc.

You could in all the Halo's.
