You play normal first, then the next difficulty is unlocked and so forth

That's not how the game works, you have to play normal, then nightmare, then hell, then inferno, and yes, they are all completely different.

I assumed I could install the game without a key, since the key is tied to your account and the game is online anyway, so it can be checked then. Is this right? Does the installer ask for your key before you start installing? I downloaded the installer so I can install it tonight and play tomorrow when my boxed game arrives. Will be lame if I can't even start the install without a key.

When the installer asks if you want to activate just click the 'already activated' and you can install without registering anything. So you can happily install without having the game np.

Not really, its blizzard and its normal prices for them for digital download. They know people will give in an buy it regardless, especially last minute like now.

Well they need to provide stores with an incentive to stock their game, if you think about it if Blizzard were undercutting everyone from their own store why would anyone go out to these launch events or stores to buy?

Works normally but the servers are being hammered.

I'm installed, looks like it is double the size of the download once installed.
