*** The Official Diablo III Thread ***

Hi folks, i'm looking for some gearing advice.
I seem to have hit a brick wall at GR55 solo. My survivability isn't bad so long as I can stay in a fight long enough to keep my skills on cd, but my damage is pretty shocking. I can take elites and champs down, but just not quick enough.

Can anyone give me some tips? I want to hold off on going LoN Bombs until I build a proper gearset for it.

You really need to get an amulet with a socket so you can use a 3rd legendary gem. Probably Bane of the Trapped and then switch Nightstalker passive for thrill of the hunt. If you can get a Hellfire Amulet with one of the key passives for UE (Ambush, Ballistics, Thrill of the Hunt, Cull the Weak) then all the better!

My UE DH is about done, nothing much more I can reasonably upgrade and I cba to grind paragon for mainstat. Also the thought of doing more legendary gems doesnt really appeal!

Ignore the BoTP, its in there for grinding grifts. I use Taeguk for pushing.

Might try another class next.

What GR you able to clear up to? I am on 76 with UE so far, and 77 with M6 (cold).

My DH: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/HungryHippos-1751/hero/71722999

I need more work on my UE DH still, need Ancient WH, a better Focus, Ancient HFA, Ancient DML with good stats (had a few but always missing stats, CDR is too important for me on this slot to drop).

I'm just enjoying running about in rifts/GR's atm, not really pushing too hard or anything, and I'm not a massive fan of the group meta of stacking twisters in corners or walls, however need to do some of those to get the gems up a bit.

Hi, I think that not having The Traveler's Pledge set is holding you back, as with that your damage is increased up to 100% while your standing still fighting. Also having Akarat's Awakening for your shield would make your skills come off cooldown a lot quicker enabling you to keep Akarat's Champion on pretty much constantly.

Also switching out Indestructible for Iron Maiden in your passives would give you more damage.

For comparison this is my crusader, and I have cleared 65 in just under 14 minutes.

75 so far, I had ages left but got cold snap as RG which meant a lot of dancing around at the end so only had 20 seconds on the clock when done. I can definitely push a bit further but I need no distractions and since I normally play in the lounge with my wife nattering away I've not had the time to push on recently. I'm working away next week though so will try and go higher then I think! I also need to practice more at keeping Taeguk stacks up as its a noticeable difference when maintained at high stacks.

Getting a good Ancient DML is tough, the one I'm using has life % rather than the preferred vit but other than that I'm pretty happy with it. It took far longer to get than anything else, many many mats burned.

Yeah I drop Taeguk sometimes too, need to work on it also here, same for with M6 (harder to keep going with M6 I think). Pro tip, if you zone between levels then you can hit escape key, it should pause the game when you get back in to the next level, buying you more time to keep Taeguk rolling than normal.

Currently spending all materials on DML chances, DB's, shards etc. I really need to roll more bounties for chances to upgrade WH to ancient, 10 bounty runs is 20 chances which is reasonable, but I hate bounties so much.

Yeah, Ancient one with Fire %, CHD and Crit % is best, so you can augment it on top :)

Need same for Cold though for M6!

Planning to do the Guardian part of Season Journey this weekend if I have time - need to clear GR70 and do the 3 min rift basicly. Did GR69 first shot last night so I think 70 won't be an issue (I'll probably farm some keys tonight and do the actual G70 push over the weekend proper). The GR69 was a laugh in the end no shrines and virtually no elites so i had to kill the RG in 1 minute - was left with 0.2 seconds on the clock...
Assuming I get this done I'm probably swapping to HC for the rest of the season (will proably do Monk and DH as I've done WD and Wizard on SC).
Anyone wnat to try fr the 3 min rift let me know I'll probably run a modified Tal/Fire Wizard but I also have a full angry chicken WD set. I can run GR50 in 2 minutes but not sure what my time is in TX as I'm normally scooping up DBs (although as I've got about 2,000 I' can probably stop now :)

Yeah it's the only item i need to get in ancient though i could do with a better DML mine sucks :( in the process of leveling a bunch more gems want to get them to 85 to augment.

I tried the traveller's pledge set and it just made my damage and survivability just drop off a ledge. I could barely clear 50 with it, and they were both ancient pieces.

As for Iron Maiden, my HF carries the passive for me.

I keep blowing shards on AA but i've not even seen one yet in what must be about 20k shards...

Cheers for the help though, i'll keep grinding away!

At what level do ancient items start to drop?

Any difficulty. Ancient items have approx 10-15% chance to be ancient when ever a legendary drops.

The higher the difficulty, the higher the magic find, the higher the drop chance, the greater chance of finding an ancient item.

Doesn't matter what progression you're at, takes a few hours to have good enough gear to do a 45 fast. You can have a rift where there's barely any mobs and fly through it in 2 minutes with an in-geom. If you feel your rift is THAT bad just skip to the next floor. It's not RNG it's your gameplay, simple as. If you stay on a crap floor that's your mistake, and if you don't skip mobs that aren't worth killing it's going to slow you down. That's all there is to it. Now when you get to your GR cap, then yeah grifts are nothing but RNG.

I thought you could not reroll into ancients or was that only sets only?

Need to look at the recipes again :p

You can't roll a set item using the 10 forgotten souls and other bits and pieces for a random set item of that set.

However, you can spend 50 forgotten souls and reroll for an ancient.
