***** The Official Division Thread *****

I played it for 5 minutes and logged off. Could tell this wasn't going to be a game that would keep me playing for a few months.

I'm heading away for a month just before the release, when I get back I will be surprised to see if my friends are still playing it.

If they are though I will probably grab it and start playing it but I'm just not going to jump on the hypewagon like all the other games only to be disappointed again.

Still not sure if I'll buy this, played the closed beta and the one that's open now and it's not that I don't like it. It's just that I think I'll get very bored of it quickly, neither do I think this game is the one to take me away from destiny which I still play a lot of.

But still 50/50 for me on this, may wait for it to drop in price then get it.

I think for me, it will be the grind to level up the three different areas of your base that will keep me engrossed for a while. I doubt I'll venture into the DZ much as you probably only need the purple weapons for PvP anyway.

Yeah it definitely seems theres some fun just levelling up but once you hit the cap I wonder how Ubisoft will keep the game fresh between updates, especially as I doubt updates will add base game size of content when they release.

Purple/Yellow weapons have more perks on them so they could be pretty different to blue ones if they stack right...

Played the crap out of the closed beta, spent no more than an hour tops on the open beta. I have the Gold Edition on order but I don't know if I'll keep it. I can't put my finger on the reason why. Maybe it's the lack of content in the beta.

Also, does anyone actually know how much of Manhattan is playable ?

According to what I read on Eurogamer, it's midtown which stretches the width of Manhattan from 56th Street, just south of Central Park, down to the southern edge of the Flatiron district.

Which makes it like this in this Google map I knocked up (area in black box).

The beta covers around a 1/5 of the full map from what Ive read. There was some video that did a comparison with FO4 but cant remember how well it did (think it was as big but Divisions also more dense)

I really enjoyed the Beta PVE but the Dark Zone for PVP is just broken. By broken I mean the entire idea behind it and how the system works. If you're going to make it PVP then make it PVP and not this stupid rogue thing which is just open to abuse by working the principals behind it.

trouble is some people like the whole rogue thing and love the thrill of hunting and being the hunted and don't want an out and out arena shooter or a crucible mode like Destiny.

I don't understand the complaints with the DZ?

You can go rogue and grab a player's loot at the extraction point for a quick win but the more you kill the higher the bounty and eventually you have the entire server chasing you down..

I've played for hours in the DZ and the vast majority of players I encounter are not hostile. Occasionally you get the odd group that likes having a go, In which case I take great enjoyment in hunting them down and collecting the sweet bounty on their head.. or sometimes I just go rogue on them when they're least expecting it. ;)

Can't decide if I like this enough to preorder. Beta sucked me in til 3am last night which seems promising , but I'm finding I feel really disconnected from the combat. Not sure if it's the cover system, lack of variety in enemies, setting or just the lack of x axis invert option (yeah I'm a freak). Much less fun than just blasting things to pieces in Destiny.

The problem is people try and force you into going rouge. I've had people walk in front of me while I'm fighting AI.

The rouge mechanic doesn't really work when it becomes 1-4 vs the whole zone. Especially when the rewards are stacked against the people with the worse odds. Kill 2 agents and you will lose more dz Xp than you make.

Not sure what the solution is, factions style pvp? Full on dayz style gankfest? As it stands dark zones are PvE with people trying to trip you up cause choosing to go rouge is pretty much suicide unless there is 4 of you and one of them.

its the people who want a destiny style setup of having PVP confined to an arena game outside of the PVE arena, and those who want it completely the other way and just want it to be a Rust or Day-Z type setup with no rogue mechanics and its just every man for himself where you can shoot others without any penalty.

Well, my friend and I are sold on it now. It's not perfect by any means, but it's good fun and it'll finally replace BF4 as our go-to weekend shooter.

The map seems okay, but it's not really all that interesting, judging from the are you get in the beta at least. It all looks nice and it's detailed, but there's not much in the way of buildings to enter, places to explore and most of it is all on ground level with the odd ladder here and there.

Think I'll pre-order the Gold Edition but hold off activating the season pass on it until I'm sure it's something I intend to keep playing long-term.

DZ could use some tweaks but I've found it pretty good, both solo and in a group.

Remember it's effectively the only end game the beta has, so lots of people just running about messing around.

Exactly, most people are trying to get you to go rogue so that when they (normally a group of them) kill you there is no penalty for them by going rogue. It just creates a confusing area, one where a solo player will stand little chance.

If it's going to be PvP then make it PvP not some kind of confused zone.

Hopefully the PvE will be sufficient for the game to last as the PvP in this state certainly will not.
