I agree with the criticism of being split off from your friends due to them being a much higher level, it kills any social apect of the game other than being in a party chat together.

Its not that much of an issue. You can all play together again once you hit 30. Its only really an issue if some of your friends rank up faster than others.

I understand why they don't let you in the dark zone with two big a rank difference, and it does let you join missions, it just scales the mobs to a level somewhere in-between the bottom and top ranks.

I think they've done all they can given how the game works. Imagine if yo could join the level 14 darkzone at level 30 by joining on a friend .....

They could scale you down to your friends level in missions though. That way you can still play with mates without them becoming cannon fodder. DZ should have bbrackets like it does now.

Don't think it would work as simply as it seems. I don't know of any game that manages to scale your level down so you can join your lower ranked mates on lower level missions ?

Destiny does in the sense that the enemies are the level of the mission chosen and not set by those running it (automatically). A high level player ends up with a damage cap (which is more the damage cap for the specific enemy at the specific level as opposed to a cap on the player themselves*) but can tank a lot more damage (Although I think this gets scaled down as well).

EDIT: Of course a level 40 320 light player helping out a level 3 on their first mission will still be massively overpowered (compared to the level 3) despite the caps in place.

It certainly seems possible although potentially challenging depending on the behind the scenes mechanics. I did see someone on Reddit suggest a Borderlands (2 or Pre Sequel) like mechanic where the players of differing levels see enemies of their own level during the mission. I have never played either but I assume it is a very complicated mechanic based around the TTK for the given players level (A level 15 should be able to kill a level 15 enemy in around the same time as a level 30 taking on a level 30 enemy for example). As said I haven't played either so could have been someone talking absolute rubbish.... *shrugs*

Honestly the current system is a bit naff but without careful balancing we could end up with something even more naff.

*IIRC the damage shows up as either grey or white (I can't remember which way round it is).

dark zone moving in the right direction, gives reason to kill lvl 32

Named NPCs will no longer respawn after being killed in the Open World. This will prevent situations where players were able to kill a same named NPC over and over again.

bad move, will make world very empty, i enjoy walking into groups all the time, just needs a timer.

A bit confused by this one - "Players killed in the Dark Zone now drop ammo, medkits and grenades. This loot is generated and not taken from the dying players’ inventory".

So we will no longer drop loot from our contaminated bags?

No I think it just means that in addition to whatever contaminated stuff you drop, you'll also drop ammo etc but not out of your own actual inventory.

I assume this means simply a longer timer. I can't belive you can only kill a named NPC once then it never spawns in your instances again. That would be really weird.

So this last mission that I'm meant to do in order to 'swimming in purple gear drops', would I assume it's the Russian consulate mission??

Its General assembly which appears after the Russian Consulate. Think the Bullet king is best until they patch it tomorrow. Assuming you haven't killed him or have a friend who hasn't.

What's your Gtag?

Stewp00 (they are zeros).

I've given up for the night actually. Managed to farm all buy 2 High-End pieces, managed to get 2.8k Firepower, 72k health with a High-End SMG and Assault Rifle.

Bit stuck with what to do now really? :/

Some very welcome changes comming in this patch.

Incredible accuracy + balanced M1A sniper at the special vendor in base camp. Well worth picking up for what it costs.
it's the DMR I have been using but without he perks. Better than the highend blueprint at the BOO
