E2140 (SLA3J) @3200MHz (8x400) - 1.3875vCore/BIOS - P5B-Deluxe/Ultra 120 - 36°C/69°C Orthos Load

Just a normal 8 hour stability shot which seems to be pretty common in these forums but its not long enough to make me confident that an overclock is 'rock-solid' so lets leave it for the full 24 hours . . .

Most likely the temps but also could be a lack of vCore so before I tear my machine apart and find out whats going on with the cooling I will have one last try for a 24 hour run by bumping the vCore, now set at 1.4v but 72°C load temps lol :D

After months of to-ing and fro-ing ive decided to have one AMD based system and one intel system.

Anyhow I have a DS3P in front of me and a 2140 (SLA3J), will post OC results tonight! (should stock fan be ok for 2.7ghz?)

Cant wait to see how it fairs against my AMD based system (4600 at 2.8), the AMD system has a 1950Pro Intel will have 7900Gt (both have 2gb of 6400 Cas 5 ram)

Have a P5N-E SLI and a 2160 running at 2.78GHz with about 1.44v after vdroop, thats on a stock cooler with max temps of around 55c.

No screenies as yet gonna try to see if I can push it a little further if I can figure out whats holding it back.

Does anyone know why I cannot set the Mutli to 6x in the P5N-E bios? Always defaults back to 9, even after upgrade to 0602 BIOS.

Really hoping for 3GHz+ on this, might try it in the Asus P5K I just received today.

Look forward to your results Journey, its only Bizarre and myself that have bothered to share our findings and publish some 'stable' screenshots.

You say 1.44v after vDroop, what actual voltage have you set in the BIOS?

I don't understand why you need so much vCore for 2.8GHz? The chip I am testing runs all the way to just above 3GHz using 1.325v? What happens when you set lower voltage?. I'm aware that some chips are better than others but I am guessing you have a nice chip and you just need to tweak something to unlease it (with less vCore).

I'm 99% convinced you can do that, if not higher, the P5N-E SLI should have no trouble at all and the P5K also :)

My cooling wont allow me to - Temps at 62 under load. Have ordered a freezer pro thing for tomorrow so my efforts will be posted then.

Half of my time last night was spent trying , and failing, to install XP onto a raid 0 (sata).

Looking at building a new HTPC and venturing into the world of C2D for the 1st time

Will this work and if so will it OC?

is nooone actually finding the max of these things yet?

3 ghz is a gimme

No one has enough time with these yet to do 24hour Orthos/Prime runs at various speeds to satisfy the criteria required in finding the max ;)

100% Overclock!

E2140 (SLA3J) @ 3200MHz (8x400) - 1.4vCore/BIOS - P5B-Deluxe/Ultra 120 - 43°C/75°C Orthos Load

Well it was a bit touch and go there for a minute but it all came good in the end. Very happy about this clock because I never managed to squeeze an extra 1600MHz from a CPU before and also I never managed to get a 'stable' 100% overclock before! :D

The CPU BIOS settings to run a E2140 @ 3200MHz stable are the same as the pic several posts above with the exception of the vCore which needed a 0.075v boost (1.325v @ 3000MHz >>> 1.4v @ 3200MHz)

I will post some benches when I get time, I gotta get stuck into a mountain of paper work, this overclocking can be a very 'distracting' hobby!

I look forward to everyones results and I hope some of you have found my posts useful!

Cheers all
