***The Official E2140/E2160 Overclocking Thread***

Upping the vcore doesn't help at all, I've had it all the way up to 1.55v and it still gets dodgy at 2.91-2.92ghz area and still anything over that just doesn't want to know. It's plenty enough to tide me over for some time so I'm happy enough with the overclock even though it's just a little dissapointing it doesn't hit 3ghz on the dot.

I have never not seen a 2140 reach 3ghz.

Slacken your ram timings and take them out of the equation to find the max of

your cpu.

List all your settings to see if we can help you out.

What is your Performance Enhance option set to? If it's on Turbo or Extreme then try setting it to Standard.

Your temps are very good, and you have plenty of spare voltage. Suggest upping vcore to 1.45.
Didnt think he mentioned his voltage in that post, only VID shown. Occasionally theres a fsb "gap" so to speak, maybe try jump straight to 3ghz ?

Okay well I retried again for 2.93ghz (the point where it always fails very very fast) with looser memory timings and 1.50v in bios and as expected it failed within 11seconds.

I'll post up my bios settings in a moment for what I usually use at my known stable overclock of 2.895.

Well here are screenshots of the bios setting I used that passed a 20 hour orthos test @ 2.895ghz

Has Cob as said I think i've hit a fsb wall and don't think I'll be seeing my E2140 going any higher than it already is.

You can try disabling No-Execute Memory Protect.

I doubt it will have any effect, but it's the only thing I can see there that I would set any differently.

Think I tried doing so before actually but anyway I tried disabling "No-Execute Memory Protect" and well nothing unexpected happened as it failed within a matter of seconds yet again.

Exhausted most the of options I could think off way before I posted here so wasn't really expecting to get any better results but your help is appreciated :)

I like to see other peoples clocks and PC's so thought I'd share mine.

Good stuff KelticDaz. Running nice and cool too. What does it read in core temp?

Seems you running 4ghz according to orthos!

Thanks. I keep plugging the OCZ Vendetta, great mid-range cooler!

If you look at the bottom right of the screenshot you can see the Rivatuner temp reading which I've found to be identical to Coretemp. I think it uses the same plug-in. Where TAT is reading 47C, Riva is reading 51C.

Heh, TAT gives the correct reading.

I got E2180 at 400x8 as well and all Orthos, 3Dmark06 and system shows it running at 4ghz. Wish it was. :D
However my core temps go all the way to 57 in orthos tho mostly stay under 52
