Remoteing to it from work atm so don't fancy much playing around.

Can bench it with anything you request when I get home tonight if you wish :P.

Just a single thread, so I can compare to my quad at the same speed and see how much of a difference the cache makes :)

For reference mine takes 19.7 seconds at 2.7GHz with really bad ram timings.

Bigger difference than I was expecting.

Most things I've seen comparing them so far show very little difference between different amounts of cache.
 
These thing are great value for money i get ~15-6 seconds at 3ghz with my xeon, that's not far off considering how intensive pi is on a cpu design.

Let me know how you get on with that. I assume you have pc3200 ram? maybe we can put our heads together to get decent clocks. So far, i've just put my FSB up to 290 and my ram is running at 181Mhz...i'd like to get my ram closer to 200Mhz though. What HSF are you using? I bought an AC Freezer 7 and under orthos full load, my CPU has never gone over 58 degrees.

Anyhow, letus know how you get on with that combination....also, what video card do you have?

The stuff I've bought will be replacing the Xeon3210, Asus P5B and Ram that are currently in my sig. I'm selling them to a mate part exchanging with some of his stuff.
Will be using some OCZ DDR, until I get the Ballistix DDR2 set I want to get.

My current heatsink will be sold along with the above gear, but I've got a Zalman 9500 I'll likely use, may even use the stock heatsink ;)

At the end of the summer I'll buy a new high end rig (ie after the price drops in particular) I'll still be using my 8800gts through the summer unless I have reason to sell.
Eventually this gear will be demoted to a server or something like that.

What motherboard are you using?
 
Ive got the 965p-DS3 coming to go with my Crucial Ballistix pc5300.Spent most of the day at work lapping the e2140.Put it on our Stefelmeyer today and it was like a banana,well thats a bit of a over-statement but im sure you get the idea.

Lapped it down to 1200 today and will continue down to 1600 tomorrow.
