***The Official E7200 Overclocking Thread***

photoshop cs3 plug-in filters and vso convertx dvd/br encoder, well thats the only apps I use that utilise the new instruction set and also support multiple cores. Probably more but thats the ones I use.

oh, nearly forgot solidworks photoworks 2008 has just implemented sse4 but Ive yet to try it out on my home pc, need to get a home licence from work 1st. Still only use 2007 which of course supports multiple cores.

hhmmmmm..........re-thinking the need for 4 cores..........

Right I'm starting to play around a little now. Prime passed with no problems last night so I've gone to 3.9 now.

I find that nucrealMC score a bit low, I get like 11000+ with 3.2Ghz E2160. Yours is at 3900! Or am I overlooking something?

Score is 13395 mate. Dunno where your looking. I'd like to see some screenies of 11000+ with a 2160 mate. My E6600 only just manages 11000 at 3.5ghz.

4ghz seems a no go on this chip by the way. Looks like there's an FSB wall at 420. Everythings fine at 419 just can't get it to even post at 420.

Right I've upped the FSB & NB voltage to 1.5v and its posted. Seems theres no FSB wall after all.

Had to put 1.45v through though and the temps are making me nervous. Its loading between 67c & 70c. May need to look into a different cooling solution I think :D

I wouldnt go much higher than 1.45v if temps are becoming an issue. I run my e8400 above that 24/7 but the chip runs very cool under water.

If it runs prime thats great, but if it doesnt I would just knock it down until it passes. Getting carried away with these 45nm chips is what tends to mess them up :(

TBH I would be happy with 3.8GHz if I only paid £80~!! awesome bang for bux!! :)

p.s. my 4GHz Q6600 beats your 4GHz 1m PI :) as if that even matters lol

What cooling are you currently using ManCuBuS?

I'm thinking of getting one of these chips next week.

These tests were done under a Noctua U-12F, I have also done some tests with an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 and temps jumped quite considerably. 3.8 idles around 50c and loads around 72c under the AC7.

The noctua temps were around idling around 40c at 4ghz and loading around 63c

Have bought a very cheap Asus P5K-VM board and put in the E7200, have a coolermaster Hyper TX2 cooling it and I can now clock it. Looks as though I have a problem with the GA-P31-DS3L. Here is 4GHz with it - but I don't like the Vcore or the temps much!!!
