***The Official E7200 Overclocking Thread***

Lots of suicide shots, but whos actually running 4GHz prime stable. That’s the golden question.

I've done 8hrs prime stable, I didnt screenie it though as I was never going to leave there due to me snapping 2 fins on my Noctua. Once I get my new cooler I'll ramp it back up to 4ghz (running at 3.8 currently) and I'll do it again for ya. Had to play around quite abit with the FSB voltage to get it stable though.

Score is 13395 mate. Dunno where your looking. I'd like to see some screenies of 11000+ with a 2160 mate. My E6600 only just manages 11000 at 3.5ghz.

:D

^^That is on air would you believe it! I know its daft, but I couldn't help having a bit of fun with this el cheapo chip! So what if it dies, i'll replace it with the e7200:D (my MB does overvolt though by 0.02V for some reason) Have had it slightly higer on a suicide Pi run (see sig)

Besides I thought this was an overclockers thread! :p

nice one! I say give it death!
That’s a great example of why I love the old 65nm chips you can ramp up the vcore to ridicules levels and they will still boot and scale even higher! These new 45nm are really fragile and can degrade significantly with proportionally less vcore. I’ve seen a fair few people kill yorkfield and wolfdale chips on the xs forum but I can’t think of one instance when a conroe or kentfield chip died from too much vcore.

'ning!

Don't have any screens yet; only in 1st testing phase after getting my replacement board in late last night.

Hitting the 3800 mark without any problems so far.

I'm on an Asus P5K-E with 906 BIOS.
E7200 stepping : Q745A923
Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7

Currently I've tried 400 x 9.5 and 420 x 9 both with 1.35vCore in BIOS (reading 1.232 idle 1.224 load in both CPUz and Asus Probe)

Edit - apparently my BIOS undervolts vCore by 0.1....

1MB SuperPi in 13 secs @ 420x9, and 14 secs @ 400x9.5

Orthos was still going after 2 hours in on both the above configurations.

Temps: Coretemp displaying 31/39 idle and 55/60 load. Asus probe 20 idle 44 load.

Actually, I'm a bit unsure about my temps. They seem a bit unbalanced and I wonder if I should re-seat the heatsink. I'm using arctic silver paste, should probably give it a while to settle. The heatpipes themselves seem pretty lukewarm to touch which seems unexpected.

Screenie?

I'll be doing some more tonight, got my new cooler in my hand so hopefully should have chance to install tonight. If not tonight it will be tomorrow, then I'll ramp it back up and see what the temps are again, as they were making me a little itchy to say the least.

If you’re an average pc user, play games and mess with media from time to time I would say it’s a good step up :)

I'm ordering mine next week when ive got some time off, any suggest a good replacement cooler for a AC7? preferably with a backplate and for about 35 pounds.

I fancy getting myself a TRUE, looks like it will fit in my CM-690 but i dont know about if it will fit on my P5E, I'm checking the xtrmesystems forums for info.

Update on my E7200 on a P5K-E board.

400 x 9.5 passed 8 hours of orthos. vCore set to 1.325 in BIOS, but I believe the P5K-e undervolts by 0.1 Both CPUz and Asus probe seem to confirm this.

Cpu is looking like it has more to give but struggling to get stable above 400 FSB. Not sure what this is down to yet. On a completely new build so need to find my max RAM overclock before I go looking for FBS holes on the board/cpu.

What cooler and memory are you using?

And what temps you getting at that speed?

[/edit]What is the max current safe volts for everyday usage and does this suffer from the same degradation as the other wolfdales?[edit]
