Todays looking like the first day it'll reach it's "average required per day to meet the target" level for a long time. Hopefully it'll keep it up rather than just being a blip due to the book pledges being added.

I'd say i'm probably looking forward to Star Citizen more than this although that's probably down to them having much more done and the live Q&A's they do every week getting me pumped. Pledged last night for Elite but only £30 as it's what i'd have payed for the game at launch anyway and at least it all goes to them this way.

i expect it will go up with people getting christmas money now. :)

How do these new tiers work?

Here are the new pledge tiers:

(-) Default: Start in a safe Federal core system with a Sidewinder ship, single pulse laser and 100 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons)**
£32 Imperial Bounty Hunter: Have the option to start in an Imperial Colony with an Imperial Eagle Mk II Fighter with upgraded weapons and shields and 1,000 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.
£37 Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash.(randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.
£42 Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.(randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.
£55 Independent Trader: Have the option to start in the Lave system with a basic Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR** plus all rewards above.
£70 Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.
£85 Kickstarter Special: Have the option to start in the founder's world with any starter ship and 4,000 CR. Note: any Kickstarter decal-carrier will be able to travel to this secret system in gameplay** plus all rewards above.

Interested in the trader or explorer but is that on top of the £20 tier or is that the total price, and how do you upgrade?

I don't know what you guys are expecting but £1.25m for funding a game isn't a lot so I wouldn't get your hopes up to much. In comparison Tim Schafer spent $12m when he made Pshyconauts, typical Call of Duty games will set you back $20m and some of the Final Fantasy titles have tipped the scales at around $50m each.

It will be interesting to see just how much content and depth of game David can pull of with such a tiny amount of funds (unless he's going to use his own money as well).

Just upgrade to the new tier using the 'Manage Your Pledge' button on Kickstarter, type in the new amount at the top of the page and then select your new tier from the list below.

Since they are new tiers, and not upgrades/add-ons, they would replace your £20 tier not add to it. So the Explorer is £70 total. That tier would also give you the option of starting as any of the lower pledges as well.

So if you pledged £90 you would get the Kickstarter special?

I too have pledged for Beta, and going by the wording of my pledge level, "... plus all rewards above"

It seems that it must include these new tiers.

Hmmm still haven't bought my brother a Christmas present. Is there any way I can pledge money to this as a gift on his behalf and of course transfer all the relevant goodies to him?

I think you can but you would be better asking on the comments section of the kickstarter, they are very friendly and helpful there :)

Yes one of the authors pleged £4500 to take it over, but there are lots of trolls who take great delight in submitting false pledges then removing them, I just hope that the £1.25 million is exceeded by a good few thousand on the last day or our hopes may be dashed

Why don't they introduce a nominal charge (50p to £1) if you withdraw a bid to stop this?

It's going to be tight, it'll need a big big push on the last few days. Currently needing to average £30k a day and the best single day it has managed since the first three days is 28k...
