***** indeed, proper ****ed as well now, offspring has been messing about, sold the 'conda and bought an Eagle because it looked nice, 'conda hadnt even left doc but I'm now lacking enough money to buy the bloody 'conda back lol...
 
Ugh, my A rated anaconda costs me about 16mil. I got robbed 3 times in a row at a community goal (a, I don't like being a private pussy, and b, I wanted to take a proper pop at the guys who killed me) and so I'm down to 40m in cash.

Haven't played for a year logged back in and bought Horizons tried the training missions couldn't activate some tool even after 45 minutes of trying, went on the forum/s google seems to be a common problem with no fix, found a planet to land on crashed my ship and cost me 5 mill, thought I'll go back to missions they used to be good, nope missions pay less than working at McDonalds soooo spent 1:45mins not actually achieving anything logged and went and played another game..

Unfortunately I just don't have the time to play this game..life is unfortunately getting in the way,.still it looks pretty.
 
Sadly the Engineer grind turned me right off, combined with no commodity storage it just feels half designed. I also cant get pasted the immersion breaking aspect of ingredients, eg I can buy 1000's of tons of gold/aluminium etc but can't buy a chunk of arsenic and am forced to do something I don't enjoy.

FYI I really liked the base game and had approx 3 billion in resources and 100's of hours played. Taking an extended break until things change.
 
So... there's a sale on steam with Elite.. would people recommend it? The grind does put me off.. but how bad is it? I used to play Eve 6 years ago, so am well versed in grinding and rock shooting..
I'd probably play as transport or shooty person.
 
Personally i wouldn't bother with Horizons.

Vanilla will do you fine, landing on planets is a time sink in itself and offer no benefit apart from some nice screen shots.

Lets say the first instalment of content doesn't make my lifetime sub seem worthwhile. It needs more CO-OP content.

Because I wanted to see if I could beat them at their own game. I could not, but I thought it would be worth it if I could. At first I was taken by surprise by a FDL running silent, and the second time he got me I knew what he was doing so I knew he would have no shields. I nearly had him too, but I was running a lot of kinetic weapons which are bloody hard to aim without being able to lock. 3rd time he had a friend.

So I just geared up my asp explorer to do some robigo missions but the problem is I can't grind enough rep to even get the starter missions, reading elsewhere this seems to be the case for everyone.

So what's the next method of making money quick on this?
 
Is this a good buy with the steam sales? I loved the original many (many) years ago but I'm not into the grinding thing. Is it a good buy for the casual player? Looking for a bit of space shooty, trading, storyline etc..
 
No Storyline, might as well forget that.

Casual is fine, and about the same progression as past elite games until you hit a wall at around 5mil at which point significant cash is needed for upgrades in terms of ship equipment and the larger ships.

Is it worth a buy, Yes in sale

Forget about expansions for the time being.
