*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I've been at it for ages and still only have just under 4 million. The payouts for missions are total ****.

Haha you need to figure out how to earn credits quickly and where these missions are. Add me on ED if you fancy bounty hunting sometime

BADBOYUK

Bought a Fer-de-Lance now along with my Cutter. It's a beautiful ship to fly and makes some mad turns. I just wish it had 3 x C3 hardpoints.

I'm hovering around the 140mill mark at the mo, pootling about in my ASPEx, thinking of swapping it for a Python due to wanting to use Medium pads, I've already stripped out the ASPEx to get as many Economy seats in it as possible, no shields, no weapons, light, run away warm cargo shifting..

If I go Python I dont lose anything from a seat POV but will have space for shields, which means I'll stick some weapons in it and can then engage those that try to get my passengers, but more money..

After that the plan is Conda and then Cutter or Corvette...

Anyone else tried the same, I'm thinking I might stop at the Conda, given its higher jump range, I've tried Python before but really didnt get on with it, the ASPEx is a much nicer ship IMHO...

I just traded in my Clipper and bought my first Anaconda, but it's sat in the hangar collecting dust, as I can't outfit it properly yet. I don't trade much, so I'll likely rig it up for exploration. Saw a 35mil passenger mission last night that would've took me out to around 2/3 of the way to Sag A. I didn't pick it up but that might be a decent way to make cash with a long-jump Anaconda.

@Trig - I'll never sell my Asp, no matter what. I love it. Took it out to The Formidine Rift this weekend to check out those beacons that are giving out some kind of code in phonetics.

Nice on the Annie, Trig. Keep grinding to get some A-rated shiz and also engineer her FSD asap

My AspEx hits 45Ly now. I often use it to wander to engineers and call my ships in from afar.

Currently bounty hunting in my FDL. What a ship tbh. It's like a jack rabbit on E. But it only has 4 class 2s and one class 4 for weapons.

Anyone running an FDL? Do you use a PA or a Cannon on the class 4?

I'm debating between an FDL and a Python for my RES-buster Clipper replacement. From what I'm reading, Python slightly wins out for combat ability but the FDL can be built much cheaper. I may get an FDL and then get a Python once I have some free cash. Although, with a WIP Anaconda in the picture, that could be a while away yet...

The Python is more expensive but had 3x3 and 2x2 hardpoints. But she's a fricking boat with poor thrusters. The FDL is cheaper to A-rate, has 4x2 and 1x4 but handles like a feather in the wind, but has limited Cargo space or slots for SCBs.

Python
+ves - Hardpoints overall, internal space, jump range, top power is more (I think)
-ves - can handle much worse for poor thrusters, can cost 200M to fit out properly

FDL
+ves - handles amazingly in the blue, one big 4x hardpoint
-ves - poor jump range, only 4x2s for lasers, low internal slots, poorer power output overall, heats up quickly when scooping

I have both btw. Will post some pics.

I'd take more internal seats over ability to turn, I wont be fighting if I dont need too, at the mo I am literally submitting to interdiction, boosting while the FTL recharges and then jumping out.

For me, it'll specifically be for grinding RES bounties, so cargo space isn't a big deal. The ability to stay out as long as possible is the main factor.

What are they like in comparison when it comes to survivability? I loved my Clipper, but it didn't have the greatest shields and, if fitted to get good damage, was quick to overheat when using shield boosters.

I'm basically looking for a RES grinding machine with a nice balance between damage and shields, with minimal re-arming.

Fair and makes sense

FDL with engineering shield boosters, 4 x pulse lasers and a 4 class cannon

Enjoy

Corvette does it all or if short of cash Python.

An A-rated Corvette costs around 40 mil to re-buy haha

Spent a few hours yesterday tinkering with my barge-aconda. I had enough mats for one spin of Felicity's wheel of RNG and lucked out with a 42% boost to the optimised mass on my 6A FSD. Unladen, but full of modules she now jumps 33 light years, which makes travelling round the bubble infinitely less tedious. I also changed up my weapon mods so the ship doesn't cook itself in combat or blow a fuse when I deploy the guns.

Now I'll return to my secret hideaway and do some bulk mining.

22m Actually.

But with 1.2 billion in reserve and A rated fleet of Anoconda, Python, FDL, Vulture and ASP explorer, its just small change tbh :)

I am more concerned about the so called "balancing" of the engineer MODS, I can see a lot of people quitting due to the GRIND.

FD still have extremely poor design choice with the new grid content they are fond of.

And i was just about to jump back in and start playing again but after reading this regarding grinding i think ill leave it for another 1 year ;)

22M? My cutter costs me 39 mil A-rated. I know because Jaques blew me up due to a server glitch and an 800Cr bounty. FFS

I also have around over a billion but seems you're Bill Gates ;)
