*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Well I kitted out my Sidey yesterday for suprise missions, then hung about the nav beacon and started slowly moving back towards the station, more or less straight away I got jumped, dropped out and found a CobraIII was trying to nail me, he lost, was taking tooo long tho as I was using multicannons, eventually the police turned up and they started shooting him as well which helped loads otherwise I would probably still be there lol
Got just under 19k bounty for it..

Then went back to the station, sold all of the upgrade and sold the Sidey, will fly off to another station (At Leonard Nimoy Station atm) and find somewhere I can get some better kit as its a bit limited, and try again..

Took some shots of my load outs so will bang them up later so people can give me a few tips..

Got 2 ships now a light combat ship loadout Eagle (beam lasers and multicannon) and a trading/multipurpose cobra mk3. Have around 800k I need to get a bit more money to get a serious trade ship.

Love flying the eagle. I know pulse lasers are supposed to be better (damage and energy efficiency wise) but beam lasers are rather sexy and i dont run out of juice :D

Might have to switch back to solo because of the huge fps drops im getting in Open SC. (in some cases down to 20 fps)(usually average 100 - 160)

Ill need to get the hammer down and start grinding if i want a decent ship in time for the Thargoid Invasion (the small hint by Michael maybe Thargoids aint too far off)

Sometimes it helps to send a voice comms request, dont accept it then try the wing invite again

Also you need to be within a couple of systems of each other i think

Ok, am i missing something with wings? i can invite my OH, but she's not getting anything her end and she cant invite me?

Both in same group etc.

She's not a new account is she? New players are placed in their own solo instance until they jump systems regardless of open being chosen.

never mind, for some reason the group was bugged, got her to make private group and all is good, odd.

One more question though, i thought wings split profits, 5%, is that only on missions? or trading too etc?

shoes or a handbag? :p

If only they were available!! I'll try a bit more courier stuff and see what I end up with. I actually feel like playing this over Batman AK and BF4.

So far I've only done Solo play, is it really bad online? Will I be interdicted up the wazoo and destroyed henceforth with speed and malice almost imminently?

I don't think it's as bad as all that, just the unlucky few are obviously vocal about it, might be worth joining the Mobius group and playing there to start with, it's a PvE based group.

If you kill a wanted ship you will split the bounty between however many people are in the wing who has at least got a few hits on the target

If your trading/escorting in a wing everyone in the wing gets a reward of 5% of the value of everyone else's profit as long as your all in the same system when sold, but it does not come out sellers profits it is paid for by the stations. If you can get to escort a T9 or anaconda on a trade route its a quick way to make money if your in a sidewinder

personally when i was starting off I found that it was a real buzz to run the risk of losing everything if a player decided interdict me, you get different players, some just want to kill for the sake of it, some will speak to you and make some demands and can sometimes be haggled with, its up to you how you want to play.
If your a little less reckless play in solo or as stated a PvE environment until you get enough to cover you insurance costs then risk open play

So far I have kept the Sidewinder, put some extra cargo space in, fitted a Kill Warrant Scanner, upgraded the Reactor so my Pulse Lasers don't drain as fast and fitted a new FSD. Only been killed once when I found a Pirate I was supposed to kill only to realise he had two friends. Got over 100k credits, is an Eagle worth it or just go trading for a bit?

Is there a good Trading tool/site?

I was just doing some trading in a wing with the OH, her credits never went up after i sold my goods etc, bit odd no?

Trade rares, you'll make a lot of money quite fast with the smaller ships. You want the biggest jump range you can manage and as much cargo space as possible, also at least a basic discovery scanner as you can make a nice extra chunk pinging the main system stars along the route. Fuel scoop will be needed too.

Personally I'd stay with bounty hunting at least until you can afford a Cobra and get it fitted reasonably well :)
