*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Hmmm... Were you using fastest or economical jumps to travel with? I really want to get out there but I just know I am going to get grief from my mates for disappearing on them :)

Her credits wont just automatically go up, she will receive trade dividend vouchers which need to be claimed via one of the contacts panel entries on the station services menu. If she was not getting those either then it's a bug, reform the wing and sell a ton to see if a trade dividend is received, if yes, sell the rest, if no, log everybody out and try again until they start coming through.

Legend, cheers bud, didn't realise had to check contacts page. She was most impressed with her side of the dividends lol.

Performance wasn't mentioned in context.

The only difference between solo and open play is whether you see other players or not, everything else is identical

Absolutely baffled why you want to challenge what im saying  It seemed to me you were saying both modes were identical uhhhm when they ain't. It can affect enjoyment of the game so yeah its worth mentioning. (ie talking about performance fps, judder and lag issues)

Edit: I've no idea... I replied and then read it all through and still have no idea why I felt the need to challenge it, think I'm losing my marbles... :-\

All I can say was that I was merely responding to the context of the original question and performance was not considered by me, so I didn't intentionally mean to imply it was the same performance wise.

I was expecting to get blown up for smuggling illegal goods but you pay a small fine only?

Yep, you only get scanned when entering big stations, with the letterbox entrance, but even then if you are quick you can get through without. Never been scanned while docking at a star port or outpost style station.

I was docking one time with several illegal cargo hauls, all for different stations withint the same system, and I got like a 9000 fine for the lot and about 100,000 credits for the delievry to that station alone! I just paid the fine as soon as I had docked and went about my way.

This was in open play though, where I tend to find other players are too busy getting on with their own thing to interdict you - i suppose it depends on the system and how busy it is?

I managed to get my way to up owning a Type 6 fairly quickly this way and then I started trading as I can make more money than smuggling with each run.

If anyone is interested in a decent trade route, then I have one.

NGANJI, V.Enterprise - buy: Resonating Seperators & sell to: BENAPUS, Walker City - buy Gold for return trip.

Makes you about 2.5k per t on round trip - single jump with good FSD.

Myslef and some mates are trying to convert these systems to Felicia Winters - if anyone fancies joining the cause then you are more than welcome :)

I've not messed around with this power play stuff yet, how much actual difference can a player, or group make?

The way I understand it, and I may be wrong - I often am!

If you convert a system to a particular power then you get certain benefits in that system, like a % increase in trade profits depending on your standing with that power.

You also get a weekly wage of 1,000cr for your part in converting systems. I have delivered the required 100 propoganda to a space port and now receive a 1,000 cr per week for my effort - it's not much I know, but the additional funds isn't the reason I'm converting it so it's just gravy.

Oh and I nearly forgot - you get in more skirmishes when travelling through systems which are controlled by opposing powers. Makes life more intersting.

If I choose to play online do I keep my Sidey and the upgrades I've made or start from scratch?
Yes, you keep them. You can switch between all modes and everything you have done, achieved, purchased, made friends/enemies with etc remains as is. You can switch to Solo from Open right in the middle of a mission, if you like.

I think it depends on the cargo.
Being scanned with cargo marked 'stolen' might get you in trouble, but I believe you can now hand it in and get a reward, so not sure on how that works these days.
Used to be stolen good would get you fine, while outright illegal goods would get you Wanted and a small bounty on your head... Again, you used to be able to pay this off at most stations, but now they last a certain period of time, during which you're well-advised to stay out of that system or deal with bounty hunters and cops.

Guys, there is any popular starting point/system for peacful starters?
There are less populated systems (see Galaxy Map and sort on population), although if it's mainly players then anywhere away from the starting systems and surrounding areas will do. So long as you maintain your neutrality with local factions, most NPCs will leave you alone, too. Just the ocasional pirate to watch out for.

Theoretically, a lot.
But bear in mind that while you may have 50 people all rooting for Felicia Winters (who is kinda hot in a Powersuit Dykey sort of way), there may be 100 horny schoolboys supporting Aisling Duval and 2000 of us lusting after the more MILFy Arissa Lavigny-Duval...

The biggest individual impact you'll see is the weekly 50 Million Credit payments, once you reach 10,000 Merit points (or lower payments for less points). You'll find systems increasing production on goods, which means you can buy cheaper and sell higher elsewhere. You'll find more friendly ships nearby to come help you out. You may also start finding Outfitting has some interesting new items.

I'm looking forward to trying it out, but won't be pledging to anyone until I have my new ship.

Ha! Awesome post, but a sad indictment of modern man :D

I pledged to Li so what does that say about me? I'm going to have to go and re-evaluate my whole lifestyle, maybe get me some leather trousers

No worries :) Even though i get worse performance i still prefer to play in open for the added unpredictability and danger.

I read on the frontier forums there is a clan called The Fuel Rats who will help any stranded CMDRS who have run out of fuel thats pretty cool!

Now we just need a CMDR police force who can warp in to help ambushed traders! :D

Hell yes! I'd love to see a distress beacon added in, you can drop into low energy wakes and help people if you see them getting interdicted as it currently stands but you have to pay a lot of attention to the scanner, a nice distress beacon would be awesome :)

I used Fastest, economical would take years ;)
I shudder to think how long it would take to reach the core with economical jumps, my Annie does 39.3 ly on a full tank and it still feels like a long long trip there and back! :p

I've found 62 Earth-like planets on my travels (of which only 4 were previously discovered), but up until now I hadn't found more than one in a single system... here's a pic of numbers 63 and 64:

62 earth likes! wow nice, i got 12 from my trek....not sure i would do it again in a hurry, the journey back was errrr.....long(see horrifically boring)! but hey

Remember the sirus system will reward you twice for that data :D

Problem is, do I really want to risk losing over 3k systems worth of data whilst I travel around inhabited space ranking up? Would be a lot of time and credits to lose because I accidentally hit boost leaving a station... :p

I'll likely attempt to rank up anyway, the risk is worth the potential reward.
