I wanted to do this but keep reading that to do it well you need to use keyboard and mouse. That just feels so wrongLearning to fly with FA off is the main goal.
I'm still fairly noobish but that's definitely something to consider.Gankers suck they really suck. An alternative to Solo is a private group like Mobius or AXI
tbh unless you home base is at Jameson's or an Engineers base you are pretty unluck to meet a gankerI'm still fairly noobish but that's definitely something to consider.
Other players will show as hollow icons on the scanner but yes, gankers are simply out to get their jollies off by ruining your playtime, but don't go complaining now, it's only right that you are their content and anything else is simply not on... as below, Mobius and the like have some fairly well populated private groups.Just started playing, less than a week in. Enjoying the variety done some basic exploring, courier runs, a few mercenray missions against really low level bad guys and just started learning to mine. For some reason I played open on my first belt mining run. Got all the way back to my "home" system and some numbnut killed me. I'm assuming it's a real player as they have a Inara bio. Elite II combat and Elite I trading with 30 ships. Why on earth they felt the need to kill me? I have a 1,000cr bounty in some back end system I got by accident and I'm friemdly in the current one. I was carrying 800k of ores so I'd get an NPC pirate having a pop but a player?? I was so far below their level it is untrue.
Hey ho. Lesson learnt, mine in solo.
Make sure that the materials/brain trees have just de-spawned from your view. Then you know you're far enough away and the limpets wont strike obstacles and expire. That link was helpful. I was hovering over the crash site and I could see the materials canisters on the ground and without targeting (not for lack of trying) anything I fired off a limpet. I could see it fire and then a few seconds it died or expired or whatever the phrase was. Reading that link suggests i was far too close to the ground. Even though I opened the cargo scoop prior to firing any limpets, firing them seemed to open and close it automatically?!
I don't fly FA off all the time BUT happily switch back and forth between on and off and I only ever fly with a stick (HOSAS or HOTAS) if on pcI wanted to do this but keep reading that to do it well you need to use keyboard and mouse. That just feels so wrong
You did all that in a month
Think that's a year's worth of gameplay for me![]()
don't forget the savvy shopper can find G3 upgraded Oddy suits and weapons in shops if you look around. if you make it part of your game loop when you are in the concourse looking in the shops it can save some timeHaha - yep, absolutely loving it! I've now started poking around the on-foot stuff and have all 3 suits upgraded to G5, and am now starting the long road to getting the engineering done for them...
There's a dedicated thread on FDevs ED forum for sharing such finds.don't forget the savvy shopper can find G3 upgraded Oddy suits and weapons in shops if you look around. if you make it part of your game loop when you are in the concourse looking in the shops it can save some time
No its just FDev being cheap, with the huge return of players for the Battle of Sol the servers got overwhelmed and its been like that ever since. Its not terrible to be in Hyperspace (ie a loading screen) for a few extra seconds but it just sums up FDevAccording to the Galnet News youtube channel there is all sorts of server related issues and slow downs at the moment, like it take a full minute to drop out of hyperspace rather than about 10 seconds. Hopefully it is due to something they are testing just for now for when they bring in colonisation. Maybe they are seeing how many more servers they are going to have to run when that comes in by switching some off now to simulate the extra demand. Or maybe it is them flushing thargoid stuff which is buggering things up.
I can't even get that far since yesterday. Kept getting login issue, finally managed to get past that today, but now can't start the game as it displays a server error. Only got access to training missions. Wanted to play after finishing work, but no joyAccording to the Galnet News youtube channel there is all sorts of server related issues and slow downs at the moment, like it take a full minute to drop out of hyperspace rather than about 10 seconds. Does it take Virpil that long to fulfill a backorder ?I'm probably looking at another 3 to 4 weeks before I can play this. Everything is on back order that I need and I don't want really want to play with keyboard and mouse.
Just personal preference, I don't find the game. Very engaging using it
