The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Thanks for the links, reading now.Ive bought Learning, analytical mind and spatial awareness, and im training learning now, only going to take 18 minutes guess having my intelligence at 11 wasn't such a bad idea afterall.

EDIT just so everyone doesnt think im a total numpty that second link is a guide HERE as well and i had been reading it just not really understanding. I didnt realise they had to be bought from the market, hence my confusion!

Ive just accepted a mission, perhaps foolishly into a 0.2 security area. It's just a delivery so ill be warping as soon as i come out of the gate. Is this too dangerous? Im still using the rookie ship...

Getting in shouldn't be too much of a problem, as you stay 'invisible' long enough to warp to the destination station. Check the map before warping in, and look for active pilots in the last half hour, currently docked, and ship kills in the last half hour. Chances are that if there's hardly anyone there, that you'll be ok. Other than that, you're taking a chance. I got toasted in 0.4 space just because I happened to be there, but if you put out a request in vicinity for safe passage as you're new and on a mission, you might get away with it.

EDIT:: if the system's quiet, and you're going to be based at the station you got the mission from for a while, it'll be worth taking the time to setup some insta bookmarks for both the station and the gate, as you'll probably get missions in that area again. That way, you spend as little time in space as possible before either docking or gate warping.

thanks for the advice, went ahead with it anyway and had no problems. I managed to gate 2 systems before the servers went offline and im in a 0.7 now so it should be cool. Also finished learning learning and am now doing spacial perceptio to get my perception up to 4 (as im going away i fancied learning an 18 minute skill rather than waiting an hour for learning II.)

Get your learning skills up, young man! I got all mine to level 3 while running low level missions, and also get your connections skill up to level 3, and take a look at the other social skills too. One of them gives 5%/level extra pay on agent missions, and connections 3 gives you a standing increase that means, for most corps, you only have to run one or two level 1 missions before moving onto level 2's. Handly later on :)

thanks again for the advice, theres just so much to do all at once! I have been training all this time dont worry not been slacking off at all just the wrong things it seems! I will look into those social skills once the servers come back on.

The devs are keen to remove instas from the game, due to the server load, i.e having to store the bm's, some people have the whole of empire in gate to gate bm's. Also there is the idea that you are invinsible with instas in that you can run gate camps no problem. As you can imagine this has caused a bit of a stir on the eve-o forums :p

You wouldn't run through a decent gatecamp. IE Warp Bubbles and the like...

Another mean noob lesson ive learned, when the servers go 'offline' time doesnt stop in game! i could have been training a skill all that time and didnt realise, instead i only did one for 18 mins so ive wasdted about 45 minutes doing nothing grrr. Well atl east i know for next time. Also lost out on a mission bonus for quick delivery :(

How to deal with gate campers.

Get pal in covert ops to jump in through a gate not monitored by them.

Get 12km off them.

Jump in in any ship with atleast 1 20km setup for gank. You could probably take one of them down in a Rifter with 280's if you felt like it :P

I do this all the time on my own with a covert ops outnumbered 3 or 4 to 1 and always come away with a kill for no losses.

Man i love being at war, another night, another brace of kill mails.
Lastnights tally was 1 Heavy Assault cruiser, 1 Battlecruiser, 1 scorpion, 1 raven and 2 pods, for losses of 2 caracals and a kessie :D

Got my first player Kill last night! Yay! I was plotting Insta's in Reblier (0.4) in a shuttle, and activated the warp gate into 6-CZ49 (0.0) by mistake to find a Tristran and a Stiletto camping the gate. They attacked and warp jammed, destroyed the shuttle, then podded me. Wasn't bothered, as I haven't got any implants worth a damn, and it was only a shuttle. Went back into Reblier a little later in my Thorax to test the insta's, and there's the guy in the Tristran who killed me! Got a little revenge, a little bit of equipment out of his wreckage, but he warped out before I got chance to pod him.

I know this is all small change to most of you, but it's my first player kill! I've popped my cherry!
